[Touch-packages] [Bug 1416810] Re: indicator-messages should depent (or recommend) libmessaging-menu0

2015-02-24 Thread b3nmore
The problem is that, at least with xubuntu (xfce indicator plugin), the
messaging menu never appears in the panel, unless libmessaging-menu0
gets installed, although applications using it are installed (e.g.
thunderbird). But of course this can also be resolved be letting
thunderbird recommend (or suggests) libmessaging-menu0.

They could use DBus directly if they wanted.

No, the D-Bus interface is not part of the public API.

libmessaging-menu0 gets installed, although applications using it are
installed [...]

It doesn't appear until an application registers itself. (If that
doesn't happen for some reason, please file a bug.)

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1416810] Re: indicator-messages should depent (or recommend) libmessaging-menu0

2015-02-23 Thread Ted Gould
Well, it does work meaning it'll sit there and show that there are no
messages. But if libmessaging-menu0 is installed, but no applications
use it, it'll sit there and show there are no messages. So depending on
libmessaging-menu0 is pointless as the real issue is that it needs
applications using it. Those applications should depend on libmessaging-
menu0 if they so desire. They could use DBus directly if they wanted.
