The use case I point to is actually the Firefox "save to" dialogue.
Now that I look at it...
this seems to be a problem with firefox. The other applications do include
the recent files dialogue.

Thank you for your bug version, that seems like it could be an issue
with the GTK3 fileselector ... are you using libreoffice-gtk3?
