AFAIK the long delay on logout is unity8 dumping core (bug 1535297). Can you provide your unity8.log from when the delay occurred? I believe @mterry and I were looking at this in The Hague (but put it on the back burner since). I don't think its specific to snaps and may be an issue with LightDM.
