BTW, I just noticed this. If you want this to be bus activated via systemd, you should put a SystemdService= in the .service file. That is I think currently if you do $ systemctl --user status mediascanner-2.0.service after it's been bus activated, it won't have been started by systemd. --

I have a feeling that we saw problems in the U7 session when mediascanner was added during the big U8 MIR push. Speaking to seb128 and davmor2 a couple of questions/potential issues come up: There was an issue in U7 where access to e.g. USB sticks, was "locked" while mediascanner did its thing.
