I was unable to recreate this issue on a Xenial system by having
unattended-upgrades version 0.93.1ubuntu2.2 installed, enabling updates
from -updates, and then running unattended-upgrades to upgrade to the
new version of itself. Additionally, I ran into no issues using
systemctl stop unattended-u
