Title:
[nvidia] System does not display video after waking up from sleep

Status in xorg-server package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
  Hello,

I'm using the latest daily development snapshot iso of Ubuntu Bionic
  Beaver.

My issue is that after issuing a sleep command with systemctl suspend
-i, the system cannot doesn't display any video or seems to work at
all when waking it up. It does detect the keypress of my keyboards,
because the fans will start spinning up and the HDD LED will flicker,
confirming that it did wake up, but I can't do anything with it. All I
could do was to shut off the computer entirely with my hardware
  button.

As this was my first bug report I'm willing to provide any more
debugging information, I just don't know how. I'm using a desktop
computer and I'm certain the motherboard supports this sleep state and
it worked fine in previous versions of several linux distros. I blamed
the error to xorg in particular because it seems to be waking up, it
just won't start up my screens.

Bug description:

My issue is that after issuing a sleep command with systemctl suspend

because the fans will start spinning up and the HDD LED will flicker,
confirming that it did wake up, but I can't do anything with it. All I
could do was to shut off the computer entirely with my hardware

As this was my first bug report I'm willing to provide any more

computer and I'm certain the motherboard supports this sleep state and
it worked fine in previous versions of several linux distros. I blamed
the error to xorg in particular because it seems to be waking up, it
just won't start up my screens.

Your system is not currently configured to drive a VGA console
on the primary VGA device. The NVIDIA Linux graphics driver
requires the use of a text-mode VGA console. Use of other console
drivers including, but not limited to, vesafb, may result in
corruption and stability problems, and is not supported.
