This sounds like a problem with the nouveau graphics driver. If the
nvidia driver fixes it for you then please keep using that.

Bug description:
  When using intel videocard and xserver-xorg-video-intel, 
  - mattermost desktop
  - visual studio code
  and postman

  do not render correctly, hovering the mouse over the window generates
  white square artifacts. Blinking contents tend to disappear...

  This is fixed by using the nvidia driver.
