[Touch-packages] [Bug 1826648] Re: cupds crashes with core dump

2020-01-10 Thread Till Kamppeter
August Rydberg (august-rydberg), if you are using Focal, the cups-
browsed crash is possibly caused by bug 1857815. Please follow the
instructions I have given there for a debug log of cups-browsed, but
please post your answer there, not in this bug report.

If you are not using Focal, your bug seems to be something different and
most probably not the bug which was reported here originally. Please
open a new bug report then.

Title:
  cupds crashes with core dump

Status in cups package in Ubuntu:
  Expired

Bug description:
At home my cupsd daemon crashes all the time.

Sometimes I'm able to print a few pages but in most cases it ends-up
restarting and sending tons of crap to my printer resulting in
multiple wasted pages with non-sense characters printed on it.

I ended-up manually creating a core dump by launching it from root with:
  # cupsd -f -c /etc/cups/cupsd.conf
  (will attach core in post)

I tried using the default drivers for my printer then using the
Samsung provided ones with same result. My printer is a Samsung
  C460W.

  Here is the systemd status:
  $ sudo systemctl status cups
  ● cups.service - CUPS Scheduler

ended-up generating one by invoking cupsd manually then launching
  ubuntu-bug against the cups package.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1826648] Re: cupds crashes with core dump

2020-01-06 Thread August Rydberg
I have the same problems as described in this bug. Every time I print
something cupsd crashes with core dump and cups-browsed also crashes. My
printer is a Samsung CLX 6260 Series. I can successfully print one job,
then get the crash, then have to wait some minutes before the services
are up again, and so on.

I found out that if I stop the cups-browsed service the problem goes
away. This is fine for me as I've already added my printer manually and
I don't need to automatically find new printers.

For some odd reason, another copy of my printer is added even though the
service was disabled.

[Touch-packages] [Bug 1826648] Re: cupds crashes with core dump

2019-04-29 Thread Till Kamppeter
Can you please attach your /etc/cups/cupsd.conf, /etc/cups/cups-
files.conf, and /etc/cups/printers.conf files.

Please also attach your *.ppd files in /etc/cups/ppd/.

Also follow the instructions of the section "CUPS error_log" on
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingPrintingProblems and then run

# cupsd -f -c /etc/cups/cupsd.conf

again. Please attach your /var/log/cups/error_log file.

Please attach all files one by one. Please do not compress them and do
not package them together.
