Launching with the Kernel 4.15.0.47.50 v4.15.0-47.50 resolves the issue.
The more recent kernel (above this one) has the issue. Seems the more
recent kernel introduces some bug that needs to be fixed.

This happens on the grounds that the PC rests with the speakers handicapped and
the earphones controlled on. To keep this from happening separate the earphones
before putting the machine to rest.
