Thank you both for helping me to create a more detailed report of the issue. I was unable to duplicate the error using a fresh installation of Ubuntu 22.04.1 LTS; i.e., using a fresh install of the OS, `sudo apt install libkrb5-dev` succeeded without any issue. Using a current installation with

Also this appears to be hand-transcribed from the actual error message (there is no such thing as a "paste subprocess"). Please copy and paste error messages to avoid introducing such mistakes. What is normally useful here is to attach /var/log/apt/term.log from the affected system. -- You
