Same bug here on a 16.04, agw3's workaround doesn't fix the issue for me. It occurs when my browser (firefox 53.0.2 64b) display a google research with google translate content. The way I fix it is: pulseaudio -k && sudo alsa force-reload It's a bit annoying, I would like to fix it permanently. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to pulseaudio in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/997331 Title: Some alsa applications play bad sound Status in pulseaudio package in Ubuntu: Incomplete Bug description: Some applications using ALSA plays bad sound. [Touch-packages] [Bug 997331] Re: Some alsa applications play bad sound
I was experiencing too fast sound before in some wine apps and when using skype (although new skype's version switched to pulseaudio and that fixed the issue). Recently, after a long break, I discovered it again when using skype on wine. It is quite unusual, though, because sometimes it works correctly and sometimes not. In the middle of a call I can experience a sudden change to fast sound. It looks like the bug can be minimalised or even disappears when using this command to start an application: PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=60 name_of_your_app For example to start audacity I type: PULSE_LATENCY_MSEC=60 audacity My OS: Ubuntu 14.10 Pulseaudio version: 4.0 -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to pulseaudio in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/997331 Title: Some alsa applications play bad sound Status in pulseaudio package in Ubuntu: Confirmed Bug description: Some applications using ALSA plays bad sound.
