When installing a package in never mark auto, it is not marked as auto.
On removal, dependencies of it will be
(1) marked as manually if the package was removed as a result of a conflict or

(2) kept as automatic
Conflict or something = If the meta package cannot be kept installed
because a dependency broke, APT will mark the remaining dependencies as
manually installed when removing the meta package.
But if you remove the meta package explicitly, you usually want to
remove the dependencies of it as well.

On Kubuntu 17.10 Alpha 1, the GTK file chooser shows several unwanted
entries from /sys, /dev, etc. For me, this occurs in the GTK3 file
chooser opened from Firefox, GNOME Disks, etc. At the time of writing, I
haven't tested whether it occurs in the GTK2 c

Thanks a lot for the feedback, Daniel! I have just tested it on 17.10
and it doesn't happen anymore in Gnome; it happens only in 16.04 and
Unity. If it might be fixed in 16.04, I can take some screenshots and
post them later.
