I had Ubuntu 18.04 installed, running XFCE (Xubuntu session), and audio
worked fine, using either the built-in speakers/mic on the laptop or via
a USB headset when that was plugged in.
However, after upgrading to 20.04, the built-in audio device is no
longer available until
I ran alsa-info before/after running "sudo alsa force-reload" to see if
there were any obvious differences in the output. While there are a few
differences, nothing really stands out as causing this issue.

similar thing happens with my lenovo thinkpad x1 carbon gen5. the time
it takes for suspend is excrutiationgly long. it used to be a couple of
seconds, at most, now the wait for the red led on top of "i" in ThinkPad
logo seems to be taking for ages to start blinking. the output of the
loop
Same behaviour happens to me. The second monitor works as expected on
Ubuntu 18.04.1 (upgraded up to 18.04.4 works fine) but does not works
with a fresh install of 18.04.4

platforms Cometlake, Coffeelake, and Whiskylake. They work both on old

It looks like the problem might be confined to the "nouveau" Xorg
driver. Actually I don't think we recommend that driver anymore. We
recommend "modesetting" instead.
Please look in /usr/share/X11/xorg.conf.d and tell us if you can find
the config file that's telling Xorg to use "nouveau". If you
not before the last of the series, 20.0.8, is tested.. I'll upload it
today
