[Touch-packages] [Bug 1874381] Re: LVM device unavailable after 18.04 to 20.04 upgrade Timed out waiting for device /dev/mapper/s5lp8--v g-home

Reporting back: "sudo vgck -t vg" reports that no changes would be made, it seems to be looking in /dev/sda rather than /dev/nvme0n1. "sudo vgscan" first reports that /dev/sda open failed and then successfully detects the vg using metadata type lvm2. -- You received this bug notification

I too tried to upgrade from 18.04 and ended up with a busybox, Ubuntu not finding my vg. Not sure how to enter those commands from a busybox Steve. Re-imaging the device with 18.04 for the time being. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded

Is there a time frame to consider that the original reporter will not be returning to this discussion? Should I open my own bug report with my logs? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Touch seeded packages, which is subscribed to lvm2 in Ubuntu.

Small update. After several tests, I found that if I duplicate the encrypted block device configuration line in /etc/crypttab, the upgrade is successful. I.e., in my case: nvme0n1p3_crypt UUID=c9ffc13a-cad1-49a2-83eb-fb9002b3ebff none luks changes to nvme0n1p3_crypt

After more testing, it seems the file is not read because the line in /etc/crypttab doesn't have end of line. This returns empty: hexdump /etc/crypttab | grep 0a This adds end of line, fixing the problem: sudo sed -i -e '$a\' /etc/crypttab -- You received this bug notification because you are
