For me the music scope crashes when I try to refresh it and the video scope doesn't find anything. Trying to play anything from a file manager window I get there is no app installed. Yeah it might not play in "Try Ubuntu" mode, but it should in "Install Ubuntu" mode if you have codecs. But I haven't verified that. How does unity-scope-mediascanner2 have anything to do with an empty dash in Unity 8?
