As of now, things seem to be back to normal--as they should, both of my
SBTs now report Brooklyn NY as their location, and its lists of local
radio stations reflect that. Was it indeed TuneIn that fixed things?

I just noticed the same issue with all of my radios listing Ashburn, VA
as my current location. (I am in the Detroit area) I called tech support
yesterday and they suggested a factory reset. I told them that both
