One more tiny problem along my way ...
I produce .avi files. The criteria are quite-important: small file
less-important:quality
I create files from a v4l stream, and the files are OK, and can be viewed with
mplayer.
This (embedded in qt) is how I record:

after a long delay I have changed the MB and lo everything works as expected
My problem was no audio recording even though aplay /dev/dsp worked normally.
