Hi all
trisquel has been working great on a ssd, but when installed to a 7200rpm

There was a weird bug when Trisquel 5.5 was released and, as far as I
remember, this was provoking this exact error when Synaptic was executed. The
fix was to disable (and then re-enable?) the visual alerts in the
accessibility menu.
What response do you expect?
We don't like nonfree software. We don't think it should exist. That's why we
use a completely free distro, Trisquel, and not other distros like Ubuntu or
Linux Mint or even Fedora.
Knowing this, how do you expect to convince anyone here that a decision is

It is true that you you are repeating yourself. Something else that is true

I'll be blunt with you in saying that the rights of the developer and user

As we all know, there was the article by RMS about the JavaScript Trap and
some extensions like LibreJS that block non-free JavaScript code. With that
in mind, has there been similar thought about web fonts that are downloaded

It is *not* true that GPL code forces contribution of source code. It is a
freedom. Not an obligation. Has anybody ever come to you and say you use the
Linux kernel under the GPL license, you are forced to contribute to its
development?
You keep on talking about donations. Again: the vast
With that in mind, has there been similar thought about web

I had some thoughts and I cannot find my notes about it. Other
font-related writings (like the FSF recommending GPL-incompatible
licenses for them, or the issue of font sources) don't suggest
Debian is optionally free. You have the main repository which becomes
enabled, the contrib repository (free software dependent on non-free

I think the standard text installer does not offer you a chance to install

For GNU manuals it could be best to install gnu manuals deb from gNewSense.

Trisquel GNU/Linux is viable for a server. But for Sage in school, hmm, there

You could provide support from home using SSL (that could be paid) :D (it is

But yes for a school that only wants a piece of software to work I think that
something already configured is good for anytime. I mean, why update when
everything is working
That is a very interesting concept and it could be the best way to go in
theory. However, to know what should be upgraded because of a security bug
fixed would be far too hard, and at some point some update could force other
things you don't want to update to become updated, unless you

This does create confusion for some people because while the LGPL is a
copyleft license, it allows it to be used in proprietary software as long as
the LGPL stays respected. Looking back, do you think Stallman and the FSF

I actually agree with you on that at 200%. Every community I went trough:

- Arch Linux Community (General)
- Hackintosh Community (Yes I had my time xD)

Outdated software probably helped. I doubt Wheezy will be as resource

And what I really like about Trisquel and fully free distros is that they

The LGPL is there for certain strategic purposes, as you should already know.
There is no reason to regret its existence.

Kind of. [1] The LGPL is not recommended/ not encouraged for new code

Not at all, this is part of their tricks, as they know people are much
