Luckily Ubuntu won't be using GNOME 3.8 for a while (Ubuntu 13.04 will
apparently use 3.6 - which will probably be the base of Trisquel 7.0).
Good news about your extension. I look forward to using it. :)
When i installed Trisquel sometime ago I installed it with the QWERTY
layout but now I use the Dvorak layout.
The virtual terminals are also setup to Dvorak now but how do I make
login screen of GDM or LightDM use the Dvorak layout?
I thought to try Slim DM but it doesn't start!

I have that enabled but it isn't working. I'm not entirely familiar with the
inner workings of gnome but it just seemed odd that even though it's told to
lock it's not doing it.
I agree. I think we should also follow Jacob Appelbaum's advice: To just
leave the tracking device at home when you don't need it.
Do you know what package I need to install on Trisquel 6.0 ? I installed
gnome-session and gnome-shell but they don't appear on the list :s..

At the Login manager look for GNOME in the DE menu.
There is no Gnome on the list (only gnome classic that bring me to the normal
Trisquel DE).
The only problem I had was only with Broadcom wireless card on two laptops
(Dell Inspiron 1525 15 bought in 2008 and Macbook 5.1 13 bought in 2009).
The printer works fine (HP Deskjet 3845 bought in 2006).
Unfortunately the scanner does not works (HP Scanjet 4670 bought in 2005). I

hmm scanner might be a problem, it's an essential tool for me. I have two
all-in-one printers of different brands with scanners... I hope one of them
works!
I have found very useful information over there, thanks for sharing this.

This is interesting.
I mean, if it's not acceptable to run a GNU/Linux system with non-free
firmware (such as Fedora, Ubuntu etc), then is it okay to use a mobile device
with non-free firmware too?
If anything, I'd like to think that running free system critical firmware is

As far as printers / scanners go you want an HP all-in-one inkjet. They are
not all free software friendly although a lot of them are. HP just went
through and replaced everything so you won't find anything that works with

I'm amused by System76's decision to ship non-free hardware with their
systems.
I mean, if I need to install proprietary drivers on a GNU/Linux system, then
I may as well buy a computer from Dell or HP. Why should I buy from System76?
