Hello _martin_,
Thank you for your support :)
Yep, sorry. You're right. That was the wrong link. Maybe another one can
help:

Ok, this looks way better than the original lxde.
I mean, why using a color-gradient for the bottom bar which makes it look
like a 3-dimensional cylinder while all the icons look 2-dimensional?
What were they thinking??
thx, very useful, now i have an encrypted mail.
Hello Everyone,
Just an update for those interested. I've dropped the price into 299,99€
instead of 399,99€ in order to clear the stock since a new product is
approaching, with a more powerful CPU and GPU and a new Design :)
Does anyone know when the final version is likely to be released?
A date?
A month?
A rough idea?
Yeah, when is 7 coming out?! :(
Fight For The Internet (FFTF) told me about it via mail subscription.
Here's the link: https://www.getlantern.org/
Yeah, but thankfully there are other free fonts that work well for the UI. I
use Roboto (apt-get install fonts-roboto in Trisquel 7) for the default and
window title fonts in Trisquel and Ubuntu.
Hello and thank you for telling us about the project.
But, sadly, there is a problem with it: it requires you to use a google
accont which I find counter-productive.
If there is an alternative to using google, pleas tell.
Thank you
I wait Trisquel 7 official release like water from the sky
I found this recently:

This is the same USB wifi dongle that ThinkPenguin and Tehnoetec sells. Might
be interesting to people in the UK (they have a page on ebay, but they don't
seem to have their own site yet).
They sell the dongles here:
It doesn't seem to have any advantage over Tor, unless it's faster, maybe.
Isn't access with anonymity better than just access?
A number of red flags popped out to me, aside from the dependency on Google
services (which they claim they will remove soon[1])
Readme[2] claims that it requires Oracle JDK specifically, and OpenJDK will
not work. As is typical, they don't explain why this is the case. Now, I know
Java
I agree with you
I don't consider saying Linux when they mean GNU/Linux to be a red flag
in particular; such projects include GNOME, LibreOffice, Python, and Tor. I
don't consider any of these projects to be hostile to free/libre software.
I've searched for problems with the keyboard-indicator and shortcut and found
several threads and bug reports from late 2013. Does this mean it is still a
bug? Is it upstream? How do I report it? It's difficult to believe that I'm
the only user affected by this. Has anyone else experienced
Me too, thanks to thinkpenguin now i can use Trisquel in my laptop.

using the prerelease?

No, it's BusyBox, that's what it says, at least. I have neither sudo nor
apt-get installed. Apparently, it's only the built-in commands that are
available. Is there a way to recover this installation?.
What is the hurry? Aren't you
using the prerelease?
That I am. But I'm looking forward to being able to suspend the machine
instead of having to power it down.
A small thing I know...
I was testing Trisquel 7 noticed ibus daemon
check whether ibus-daemon and ibus-setup are available
A Trisquel system without apt-get?! That is weird! Personally, I would forget
about this install and go with
http://devel.trisquel.info/makeiso/iso/trisquel-mini_7.0-20140807_amd64.iso
(since you seem to want a lightweight desktop system).
In synaptic package manager I searched for ibus and one package is installed:
ibus version 1.5.5-1ubuntu3
The following other packages are available but not installed:
ibus-input-pad
ibus-libpinyin
ibus-pinyin
ibus-anthy
mosc-utils-gui
Does this answer the question? Otherwise, can you tell me
How come that in the Trisquel users it indicates that a new post was made
here by steve002 but I can't find that here???
Readme also states that the installer is built with proprietary tools.
Normally, we don't even know whether the binaries on our system are really
made of the correct sources or not.
Thousands of free software project may also use proprietary tools for
compiling but don't state it explicitly

I found a manual titled How To Ask Questions The Smart Way by Eric

That was a spam post: https://trisquel.info/en/issues/4206?page=13.
Ubuntu 14.04 came out in April. Its long overdue to release Trisquel 7.
Given that I, and several others, are running the pre-release, this
suggests that there are no show-stoppers blocking the release. Maybe
I'm mistaken, and there's a blocker? I'm with Teg on this one.

hi together,
I would like to switch to Trisquel and tested it also out already with a
Live-system. There I found out, that my WLAN-card and my Ethernet-card are
not supported, although they run with Ubuntu and ubuntu-based distros since
years already. I have run it from Ubuntu 8.10 until
hi t3g,
thanks for that link. It is really good to read.
But what is also important and what I would suggest to you all is also this:
uninstall Thunderbird
uninstall Firefox
alternativly install this:
- Iceweasel (a real free Version of Firefox. There, the proprietary parts
are left out.
HI together,
one request for Trisquel7
my wifi-card and ethernet-card are not supported by Trisquel up to now. could
you please make these both cards work in Trisquel7??
Wifi-card:

802.11b/g/n WiFi Adapter (rev 01)
The red flag is more that they target only Ubuntu, instead of GNU/Linux in
general. That may or may not be a problem in practice, however.
Trisquel has its own version of Firefox called abrowser which is completely
free and uses Trisquel's own free addons service, as opposed to Mozilla's
which offers non-free software. In Trisquel 7 this is being replaced with GNU
IceCat.
I installed using the net installer. I didn't disable apt-get or similar but
I will take your suggestion of reinstalling.
Hello. I'm trying to install Trisquel in a virtualized environment from the
“mini” CD image. Is there a way to use the text mode installer (As from
the net installer)?. I find the graphical one unfamiliar and seem to be
missing some features that I need (Like LVM settings).
Regards and
That's not an easy thing to do and requires writing a replacement for the
nonfree firmware. There is only one project so far that has reverse
engineered WiFi firmware (OpenFWWF for some Broadcom chips). If someone
releases a libre replacement firmware for your Realtek chip, you'll be able

No need to denounce Evolution! There's nothing wrong with it ethically. It's
just not as easy to use as Thunderbird and its derivatives.
Ah, I get what you mean. But it doesn't really seem like that's what they're
saying; they have a link that says Linux and links to a deb file. It looks
more like they don't understand that not all GNU/Linux distros are
Debian-based.
Thank you for your guidance and encouragement Quiliro! I will start reading
the book tonight. In the meantime:
Steps taken to reproduce the problem:
1) Boot Trisquel 7 live CD.
2) Go to System Settings Region Language Input Sources tab.
3) Click on + button on lower left side of screen and

The Trisquel project only distributes free (as in freedom) software. At the

Apparently, both your network devices cannot be used in freedom. As for the
You should then install the NetInstall and, once you are done, fire this

As far as I know, the resulting system exactly is Trisquel Mini.

a binary file).

My machine suspends but on resume the screen is frozen. It does not do this

stoppers. On the contrary, it's very good already.
