Perhaps it already sort of has?
Maybe, with all the news of black-box HDD controllers. Though people still
torrent as much as they ever did; you’d think that would be the first thing
to go.
For anyone wanting to see additional planet textures in Celestia, the new
texture pack is now available here:

It uses textures from the stellarium-data package, with no modifications to
the image files.

I don't like the mint menu. I guess I'm a traditionalist.
Use copyleft to prevent exploitative usage of your stuff, not non-commercial
clauses.
To be clear, if it was selling exceptions to a non-commercial clause, that
would be non-libre culture, and I don't support that. But if it's selling
exceptions to CC BY, that has no effect, and if it's selling exceptions to CC
BY-SA, it has the same effect as just using CC BY.
Trisquel uses GNOME Flashback, so this makes sense (it's approximately the
same DE as GNOME 2). If you used GNOME Shell, plus a Web browser with several
tabs open, that would probably eat up most or all your RAM.
Games aren't typically a gigantic RAM consumer.

If all we use the CC-BY-SA license in our works, are
we giving the power
to
the big companies to make money using us?
This is a terrible mistake. Non-commercial licenses don't
put any
restrictions on big corporations that they aren't used to.
Thanks for your suggestions!
Anyhow, the CC clause is valid and i can use the song without the jamendo
commercial license, though nobody really knows what this exactly is.
Doesn't seem problematic. It's just an unnecessary alternative license in
this case.

Then it is a worthless license, since you can't safely assume any additional
permissions, which is the main purpose of Copyright licenses.
Thanks onpon for the link. It shows well supported arguments to the
discussion about the theme.
What do you think about the Jamendo's issue?
i am running a x60 running libreboot with trisquel 7(normal not mini)
with a single core cpu and 2gb ram and 500gb HDD
and it runs fine
it can play quite a few 3d video games and just about all programs in a
decent amount of time
thank you! I've fixed adding chmod 777 /sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight
to the /etc/rc.local file. do you think this a good option?
Heh, I wouldn't use MATE if it weren't for mintMenu, or mate-menu as Ubuntu
MATE renamed it. But of course, we each have our preference :P
The problem with most games I tried out is that they are incapable of NAT
traversal. That means players either have to set up their own server, or
forward their ports, neither of which is something a casual user can always
simply do.
I hope you've filed bugs with the games so they will
Welcome!.
I think that Mullvad works with JavaScript disabled but check for yourself.
They support OpenVPN but they also offer an ad-hoc client that appears to be
proprietary.
Hello all,
I've been lurking on this forum for a few months and finally made the jump to
Trisquel last week. So far I'm loving it!
I love Icecat.
In fact, since I've made the switch I've used Icecat exclusively. LibreJS is
really awesome and it feels good to finally be surfing the web in
I was asking from the graphics and processor power point of view, I would
like to play games like doom3, TDM and Chaos Esque. In fact, I was working on
the Darkmod project as a mapper but I left my map unfinished as I was
renouncing proprietary software: Nouveau is not good enough to handle
You can include the chown command to the system startup scripts that get run
as root.
The default runlevel is 2 and the related scripts are in /etc/rc2.d
Read the README in that directory and go from there. Use one of the existing
scripts as a template, or even just append the command to
Just a wild guess but did you try restarting the browser after the change?
Some about:config prefs need it.
Hi, the only way I can change the brightness on my HP 23 All In One is
modifying the file /sys/class/backlight/intel_backlight. It works great, but
the thing is that I want to change it without being root or using sudo. I've
successfully changed its permission and wrote a script so every
