Hi!
Do you think Trisquel is ok for the general public to use already?
Curious. To be honest, I think not yet. Well, I don't know.

I think Trisquel is OK for the general public to use.
You don't need to even touch the terminal to use Trisquel, but people on the
forums tell people how to use it anyways. (I'm guilty of this as well...)
Add/Remove Applications is fine, but GNOME Software is much better. I hope
Trisquel 8
That's not right. It uses SDL2 now. The packages you need are libsdl2-dev,
libsdl2-image-dev, and libsdl2-mixer-dev.
Sorry about the cryptic errors and lack of documentation. One of my goals is
to replace the current hand-made Makefile with either Autoconf or CMake
scripts; that should help with that.
Anyway, as I said in the other post, the packages needed are libsdl2,
libsdl2-image, and libsdl2-mixer.
Yeah.
I wonder why the heck Trisquel sticks with gnome-app-install when it's long
been deprecated upstream (replaced by Software Center), but it does work OK.
I keep saying this, all the Freedom that we get through this OS is amazing
but what is just as wonderful is just easy it is to use.
Personally it is the easiest GNU/Linux distribution I have ever used and that
includes the the proprietary friendly ones.
These would seem like good candidates
libsdl-image1.2-dev
libsdl-mixer1.2-dev
Now it makes sense...Ruben really should implement a spam button along with
the -/+.

Welcome to the forums, vPro/chaosesqueteam!
I also thought it was trollish, and his next post
(https://trisquel.info/en/forum/what-linux-and-how-can-i-use-it-get-some-nice-young-girls)
shows that he is just vPro/chaosesqueteam.
Do you beleive in the virtue of software freedom? If you think it's okay for
free software to be useable only by a small minority of people, then in
effect you're saying most people should use proprietary software
This statement is _ridiculous_.
The virtue of software freedom is neither
Yeah, certainly very interesting!
Yes, that's what I meant by built-in. Thanks for clarifying.
Thanks for letting me know! I'm glad that you're satisfied, too, and that it
works well for you even after some time.
Man that sucks, I hope it will be figured out at some point.
I think I might have generalized too much on the pricing, so let's be
specific to be fair.
I live in Sweden, and bought the parts from Sweden at
https://www.dustinhome.se/. Let's compare the prices:
- Intel NUC D54250WYK: $368.55
- Samsung 850 EVO MZ-M5E250BW 250GB mSATA-600: $155.86

This sounds great !!! Thanks for the info, Magic Banana :)
h-node is still a good ressource to check, since sometimes non-free drivers
are unavoidable (that's what I meant by Debian providing more hardware
support).
Interesting, I was wondering about that. I suppose a sandboxed environment
like a virtual machine is the best.
It looks like this software may be Trisquel 7 only. A search in Synaptic for
libsdl2 returns no results.
Seriously how many times are you going to reply to my posts with utter
nonsense. I would just like an answer to my question. No you communist intel
bullsh*t. Have a nice day fellow linux user.
You are trying to say that I am not allowed to post on this forum? You are
trying to take my rights away... Communist Scum. My nice young daughter just
wants to learn about linux and how to read and write. If you think this is
Trollish please feel free to leave. You can also go back to
GNU/LINUX is an operation system.
Thank you for you kind answer fellow linux user. My daughter is having
trouble using linux. How do i teach my nice young daughter how to read and
write.
Thank you, turning it off also in the login greeter did the trick!
IP blocks are terrible. I would be strongly against this move. All they end
up doing is effectively banning the use of proxies, like Tor.
It would be better to implement some kind of privilege earning system (e.g.
earning the privilege to post without moderator approval). Then doing this
I wonder if there's some hidden meaning to maybe im a lamp :P
Bad idea. They can always use Tor, and we don't want to block Tor.
~/code/SDL2-2.0.3$ pkg-config --cflags sdl2 SDL2_image SDL2_mixer
Package SDL2_image was not found in the pkg-config search path.
Perhaps you should add the directory containing `SDL2_image.pc'
to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable
No package 'SDL2_image' found

can we block his ip address?
Hm... what does this command return?
pkg-config --cflags sdl2 SDL2_image SDL2_mixer
This command is used by the makefile, and it generates the -I flag. If it's
returning something incorrect, that would be causing the problem. (I imagine
make install would have put your installation into
The -I flag sets an include directory.
Oh, and there should be a way to hide or even delete troll threads, not only
single posts.
And the troll-hole should be renamed to smalltalk;
don't think we need a place for real trolls or spam in this forum.
That's a good idea onpon4, although it might be better to not require
moderator approval initially and only require it once the user posts stuff
like this. The vast majority of users are not trolls. Also, we need a
moderator :P
Ah, OK.
You might still be able to get it working by compiling SDL2 yourself, though:
http://libsdl.org
That would eliminate the whole purpose of it, though. People like vPro would
be able to just make a new account, and we'd be back to square one.
It could be some other privilege, though. Requiring moderator approval to
post was just the obvious possibility I could think of.
Basically, Ruben already implemented a very good way to deal with troll
posts.
I agree. I believe it is better than banning or even having moderators
because it does not generate any tension. I recently wrote more about that:
I compiled SDL2 according to the instructions (./configure; make; make
install, the last one as root) and it apparently compiled correctly, but the
compilation of Starfighter returns the same error.
Is there a /usr/local/share/pkgconfig or /usr/local/lib/pkgconfig directory?
If so, try adding it to your PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable.
Yeah, I guess it makes sense. But it shouldn't be too hard to get the
privileges.
Basically, Ruben already implemented a very good way to deal with troll
posts.
However, instead of a minus-sign, there should be a spam button.
Posts like this would be hidden in no time and the problem would be basically
solved.
I mean, the community is huge, so even dealing with a very
I tried these two commands and I got the same error after running make:
PKG_CONFIG_PATH=/usr/local/lib/pkgconfig
export PKG_CONFIG_PATH
Perhaps just get a moderator or some such thing to just delete this
spam/rubbish.
