Yesterday I tried booting Trisquel 8 on a friend's Acer Aspire running Windows
10. I was unable to do so, due to Secure Boot. I tried disabling Secure Boot
using guides like these,
https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/manufacture/desktop/disabling-secure-boot
The Libre Kernel is a Kernel that is clean of blobs or possible non-free
firwares also in the repositories.
So if in any case you need install any firware you are alone to do it
manually with or without any help of people on foruns and without technical
help (documentation) of the distros
Running Qt-written small desktops is also recommending to the rest people,
LXQt (BOTH Parabola, PureOS, Devuan, Trisquel), Liri (Parabola only, using
Wayland protocol that needs SDDM or GDM), Openbox/KDE (PureOS, Devuan,
Trisquel only)
It looks to stand for asking for the deblobbed iwlwifi drivers and that's not
yet done.

Great news. Thanks for expanding the number of free devices.

Many thanks to all your answers and explanation, what deblobbing true means.
It is sad, that most of the wifi cards do not working with libre kernel, but
for now I understand the reason.
I will use small USB wifi dongle from TP Link, it works well with Trisquel
without any issue. Maybe in
It may be worth a shot. I did see Unity 8 in the repo, but it depends on
packages that are missing from the repo. I did think to try Yunit, but the
website was down at that time.

Should give you a working addon manager page. It works on my Trisquel 8 box.
Type in Ublock Origin in the search field and it should find the addon. Then
scroll down and click on install.
For addons, go here:
Oh I already found it. apparently you have to download the addon manually,
and then manually install it.
A page like https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/ublock-origin/ has
its "+ Add to Firefox" button disabled. I believe that quidam sets an older
and more common user agent to mitigate fingerprinting and that it makes
Mozilla's site identify the version of the browser as
Abrowser's "Add-ons Manager" does not work, but if you go to
https://trisquel.info/en/browser
you'll get the behavior you expect from the Add-ons Manager.

The problem looks much worse than only not being able to get a graphical
session. You cannot even use 'apt-get'. It looks like the problem I faced
when upgrading Trisquel 7 with this PPA:
https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-toolchain-r/+archive/ubuntu/test
I ended up doing a fresh install.
I have a question on Abrowser. Perhaps someone could help me with that. I
tried to install some addons like "ublock origin" and "https everywhere", but
that just did not work. Do I have to do something to enable the installation
of addons, or is it just not possible?
Now for something not
Tx mate! :)
Some might have it, but I'm not currently focusing on that. You could mention
it in the textbox on the checkout page, and I'd see if I have one that has
it. Some X200 Tablets have it, some don't, according to thinkwiki.
Please have a look.
Oh, Alt+PrtSc works. Thanks!
It looks like the problem may have nothing to do with the display manager
(LightDM) and everything to do with the X server (Xorg). Try to simply
launch, from a text session, a graphical session without a display manager:
$ startx
Any error message?
There is no good news w.r.t. iwlwifi: read again the thread.
Yes, you are right, I tried with .Xauthority, sorry.
I cannot try with ~/.Xresources because I don't seem to have that file.
I tried this good idea of creating a new user. I added it to the sudo group,
logged in with it through vty, run $ sudo systemctl start lightdm.service but
got the dark
Does the tablet use the MultiTouch display, the outdoor display or a
different one (see the link for details)?
