One could try adding acpi_backlight=vendor to the line
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT= in /etc/default/grub and rebooting the computer
to see if the command keys work properly. Like this:
$ cat /etc/default/grub
[...]
GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT=quiet splash acpi_backlight=vendor

I've read some time ago that AssaultCube had non-free code, but I don't know

I don't get what you are trying to do. The /boot partition is only for

That's most probably due to profile resetting.
I suppose a simple avconv -i video.flv -vcodec copy -acodec copy video.mkv
would suffice. WinFF -- in the repos -- is a 100% FaiF GUI to ffmpeg/avconv.
I have never seen this. Since it's happening since you installed Trisquel, I
would run sudo debsums -s to check if there is a corrupted file causing

You seem to have amd64 architecture, but tried to install i386 packages.
This can sometimes create problems.
Try:
$ sudo rm /etc/dpkg/dpkg.cfg.d/multiarch
then remove any :i386 package...
Try reinstalling it and running it again many times; if it does not work, try
running abrowser -safe-mode in a terminal... many times.

I use abcde, available from Trisquel repositories; it is very good -- only,
it has no GUI, but I prefer that way: just edit the config files, create
alias if you want and voilà.
I am very happy this is happening. I had to stop being in Trisquel forums so
frequently... I hope my donations helped someway.

If using 4.2 already, just install libreoffice-style-sifr (from

I don't know much about the subject, but I missed the information about which
kernel versions you tried.
Sure there's people interested. Just take a look at

I think no, it's because he is installing that packages from a source unknown
to APT/dpkg/whatever. Probably, he only needs to apt-get update.
Try apt-get dist-upgrade. See the man page for apt-get(8) for more info.
Which versions of Ligthspark are you talking about? See:

You are welcome :-) (I suppose that worked).
I have the impression video decoding is not made by the video-board, but by
the processor... Does your netbook have a CPU powerful enough to decode your
videos? Does lower-resolution MP4s play better in it than the ones you are
trying to play?
That's obvious: by the crowd providing you money to fund some task which you

What did you actually want to ask?
If you had come here (or any other forum with some people willing to help

2. Have you tried methods to get around Flash so you get, e.g., some media

Wonderful.
I'd search for :i386 in the Synaptic package manager and purge the results.
This is simpler:
$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:libreoffice/libreoffice-4-0 #or whichever
version you want
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get upgrade
Voilà.
That would be hard, they use different engines.
I stick with Firefox. Look at the Chrom{e,ium} logo: it's a mechanical eye,

The version of memtest86+ in Trisquel repos is 4.20 also.
I would try reinstalling the core components (I believe everything under

that doesn't work, I would try reinstalling the system again.
But are you sure that

Trisquel 6.0 uses Linux-libre 3.2.0 by default. You can use 3.5.0 by

Indeed, how come? What happens?
Many GNU/Linux distros embed MemTest86+ within their LiveCD images; I believe
Trisquel does that too; if you can boot from a LiveCD (or USB things) you
could run MemTest86+ from there.

I've tested Cinnamon and KDE in Trisquel and both work fine :-)
In order to install KDE in Trisquel, one needs only to install the triskel
metapackage -- which is a bit like installing Kubuntu instead of Ubuntu; on
text-mode installation, one can choose that instead of trisquel.
Segmentation fault means memory management problems. I would install

No problems :-)

Couldn't you boot from a Trisquel LiveCD (same architecture) and chroot into
your installed system? It would go this way:
$ sudo mount /dev/sdX /mnt/trisquel # this is root
$ # mount other partitions under /mnt/trisquel if you have separate /usr,

$ sudo mount
The second command is clean, not autoremove.
I would upgrade those packages and hope that solves the issue :-)
If it doesn't, I would try using Linux-libre 3.5 by installing
linux-generic-lts-belenos from Trisquel repos. But it's less likely to help
with older systems than with newer ones.
Thank you very much for your time :-)
In fact, there is a troll hole in Trisquel forums:

KDE has some utility to do this; go to System Settings and search for it.
It's also possible to try installing linux-generic-lts-belenos, which is
Linux-libre 3.5 back-ported from (default non-libre Linux version of) Ubuntu

Try https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Grub#Visual_Configuration .
Shortly:
$ sudo hwinfo --framebuffer
and set the desired resolution in /etc/default/grub , GRUB_GFXMODE.
You are welcome :-)
My grub doesn's ignore it. Perhaps the version in Trisquel repos is not ready
for your videoboard?
Before kernels from non-official sources, one could try Linux-libre 3.5 by
installing the package linux-generic-lts-belenos (and rebooting the
computer).

Or delete the file, or move it (e.g. multiarch.backup).
Multiarch has to do with installing 32-bit applications in a 64-bit
environment. AFAIK, this is only useful to provide compatibility with
non-free 32-bit stuff (like Adobe Flash or some Windows software to be run on
Wine).
Wow, that tee stuff is marvelous. I always used $ sudo sh -c 'echo foo
