It is possible to run OpenWRT on the Beaglebone Black. Perhaps it would be
possible to use the Beaglebone or similar ARM single board computer with
LibreCMC (if ports exist, or indeed OpenWRT itself)?

I do not think a BIOS boot partition can be encrypted since it contains part
of the bootloader (and only that).
