with debian the driver looks for the firmware and then if it can't find it, it says "possible missing firmware".

Before you test Trisquel do a full shutdown of the computer. Don't just reboot from Ubuntu or the firmware will still be loaded.

Obviously, Ubuntu's kernel is full of blobs (proprietary software), Mint, Lubuntu, Kubuntu...too. No, usually kernel loads needed drivers/firmwares at boot, or when something is being plugged-in.

Most of the stuff on h-node is wrong in regards to bluetooth working. It just appears to "work" because someone booted the card on an OS with the proprietary firmware first, and then booted Trisquel. As the proprietary firmware is retained in memory for quite some time it may really appear

The WiFi will work fine. Bluetooth, on the other hand, will require nonfree firmware. If you don't need Bluetooth it is not a problem.
