So what will the FCC lockdown on wireless routers (or whatever they were
trying to lockdown) mean for GNU/Linux users (like you)
No, not yet. It'll follow any FCC rules and I'm not under the impression that
its forthcoming immediately.
Worst case scenario if perfectly enforced (vs selectively enforced, ie don't
irritate the FCC) we are done for. You might even be committing a crime by
buying an older laptop on ebay. Sellers are suppose to re-certify devices.
