Freed-ora is an RPM repository of Linux-libre releases. It also includes
packages that remove and prevent installation of nonfree firmware and
microcode updates (this is the only nonfree software included in Fedora
releases).
Look on the Linux-libre website for more information.
Okay, one other thing comes to mind though, Is there a special repository for
Freed-ora?
One that has free software packages that fedora don't have?
I can also confirm it is not present here in a Debian Unstable system.
I believe Fedora disables the OpenH264 download. I would expect them to
disable the download of the DRM blob too, when it is enabled in next version
of Firefox.
Well, how then can it be free as in freedom in any way shape or form? I
really don't understand why it says that on their about area.
Regardless though I wish I knew when trisquel 8 was coming out.
deblobbed is not the right word
they recommend nonfree addons
and i think firefox might include drm. but it is still open source.
but is, thunderbird and firefox deblobbed? that is what I need to know...
For an RPM-based distribution, your best bet is Fedora with Freed-ora kernel.
Fedora gets updates every 6 months like Ubuntu does. This is the time for
testing etc and I see no problem.
Although, I wish that there was a rpm based distro that was updated
frequently like fedora is (only completely libre)
due to the fact that fedora lacks things such as icedove or
abrowser/iceweasel.
Not much would change if you made a libre version of fedora. So I wondered if
such a thing exists at this time.
RPM based distros tend to be more up to date for some reason then tar based
distros. not sure why though...
I might have preconceived ideas.
