You could look into Snap packages, which are supported in Ubuntu 16.04 and
Trisquel 8.
First of all, this is optional. When I refer to provide me the .deb packege
is for the program you want me to update, so I upload it to the repo
AFAIK, GNU-endorsed distros should not depend on third-party services and
must implement everything on premise. But no one can stop you from doing what
you want to do.

Yes you are right. For Trisquel 7 it won´t be a good idea. Now yes. And
considering than Trisquel 8 (as the previous versions of Trisquel) it won´t
update every package included in the repository
I think its a good idea for trisquel 7 but i should caution you, trisquel 8
is coming out in about a month...
I thought on creating a ppa with all packages in Trisquel that have never
updated since 2014 (e.g. LibreOffice, GIMP, Rhythmbox, and others) and a
forum in launchpad to discuss there which packages do you want me to upload.
