the non-free distro - stay away from those!
I was attempting to minimalize resource usage by unistalling packages and
installing their minimalistic counterparts, till i replaced lightdm with xdm
display manager and restarted the computer. Now when i log in i see is a
black background and a cursor. I tried everything, and the GRUB
Trisquel mini comes with lxle, not xfce. Did you try ctrl alt f2? and then
reinstalling lightdm in the command line and rebooting?
At the login hit Ctrl+Alt+F1. I guess you could try reinstalling lightdm.
(You find the grub credentials for your install at /etc/grub.d/01_PASSWORD)
