Why don't you try Virtualbox 5.2.0? Perhaps the 4.x version you are using
does not support the newest kernel?
If you can convert your VDI files to normal disk images then that would be
better as you can run them using virt-manager as someone said above.
It didn't work and I will tell you why, my base memory limit says 0 and I
cannot even make a virtual machine in it.
The odd thing, I am using the same kernel. I don't know which version of
virtualbox your using though...
I have to do those commands every time I update my kernel.

yes and it lacks support for vdi files. Which is why I need virtualbox...
That and, I tend to use a type of virtualbox operating system. Which I know
won't run on any other alternative... due to its nature, and also, I keep it
offline due to its lack of security. I am into some old school
