I know this will sound dumb but does that guide work with non gnu/linux isos, even winbugs xp? It is a vmdk of winbugs xp to be exact. I need it because there is a game i cannot play on gnu/linux using wine. I wish i could, but i can't. (not unless reactos allows for transferring of files

Why don't you try Virtualbox 5.2.0? Perhaps the 4.x version you are using does not support the newest kernel? If you can convert your VDI files to normal disk images then that would be better as you can run them using virt-manager as someone said above.

It didn't work and I will tell you why, my base memory limit says 0 and I cannot even make a virtual machine in it. The odd thing, I am using the same kernel. I don't know which version of virtualbox your using though...

yes and it lacks support for vdi files. Which is why I need virtualbox... That and, I tend to use a type of virtualbox operating system. Which I know won't run on any other alternative... due to its nature, and also, I keep it offline due to its lack of security. I am into some old school

Have you tried 'virt-manager' instead of VBox? $ sudo apt install virt-manager

my new linux libre kernel is 4.2, I know it might not be appreciated to ask this here, even considering that version of virtualbox is free software, but I wondered if it is possible to configure it to work in that situation. VirtualBox 4.1.40 is the version i wanted to use for it. yes I
