thanks
I have just located in some old backups some old old mail archives.
Browsing through them would be a pain in the rear. So I have a need for
some Icedove extension that could parse the newly added folders and fill
up an addressbook with what it finds.
Do you know anything that can do the job?
My question is how and where to search trough software repositories by
function when it's not in the name? E.g. contrast, brightness. Or calculator,
text editor.
You can browse by sections (function) and search the packages using the
graphical Synaptic package manager.
Or you can search on the command line with apt-cache search QUERY
You can search for software by category (function) at directory.fsf.org
Specifically: http://directory.fsf.org/wiki/Category/Use
Once you have program names, could you use the names to search repositories?
Hello,
I have now my Trisquel system for a few days and I have a few Problems and I
hope you could help me.

When searching for packages in Synaptic there's the option to search in
package descriptions, which usually does what you want. There's the same
functionality in http://packages.trisquel.info/ (It's linked from the
navigation bar at the right). When you do this. you're using the information
Your suggestions seem better. One step instead of two.
On the other hand there there are packages on the FSF directory which aren't
found in the Trisquel repositories so also your advice is better in that way.

Here is my question?
Why do they keep the old kernels that are listed as old/version after 4
updates?
Why the old version is not deleted when you update them?

I started a new thread, since this really doesn't have anything to do with
gNewSense.
There is a log-in sound that was enabled on Trisquel 5.5 (Brigantia) that is
truly spectacular. It is disabled by default in 7.0 (Belenos), but is
relatively easy to enable.
Many thanks to Dave Hunt for
How is the content in it? Freenet has some good content but it is overloaded
with nsfw, cp and stuff like that.
Thanks for your tipps.
1. I didn't find something like that ... is this also possible to change it
by the terminal?
2. On Terminal I can update and upgrade.
1. That might be the menu path on Trisquel and not Trisquel mini. You can try
the xset command. It can change screensaver and dpms properties. (The
screensaver isn't mentioned on the man page but you can see it with xset
--help)
Otherwise, you can use directly peerflix:

Seems that it should be working like that, but it currently isn't (using any
form of possible package upgrade methods). Not sure, though.

Neither are official; the official version was shut down. Both are forks. But
indeed, the fork at popcorntime.io seems to be the best one.
So if for some reason the new kernel causes problems, you can revert to the
old one. Otherwise, if such a thing were to happen, you might not be able to
boot.
I see. Maybe there should be some sort of mechanism to make sure old kernel
versions don't pile up, though. Like maybe only keeping the current version
plus the most recent old version, and deleting anything older than that. Just
a thought.
Hi,
My Trisquel 7 installation just updated itself from
linux-image-3.13.0-43-generic to linux-image-3.13.0-44-generic. Which is
great, no probelm with that.
The question I have, though, is why it doesn't remove the old kernel when it
does this? With most other software, the new version

do you know how to download the files at:

do you have to use a git command?
Inspect the element at the top-right which says stash on it. Just above it,
you'll see an element with the class aui-sidebar-body. Select that, and
then under rules (to the right), disable overflow-y: auto. That will make a
menu show up. If you're inside a repository, one button in this menu
