I solved this problem on my T400s by opening the microphone settings window.
I discovered this trick after reading tips from another forum, and it
surprisingly works.
We would like to appreciate the OMEMO feature, but we are definitely against
Gajim's (and Conversations') malicious removal of OTR feature in their new
versions. Promoting OMEMO doesn't necessarily require demoting OTR.
There isn't something that does both? A client that tries OMEMO first and
falls back to OTR would be idea.
Pidgin on x86 PC and Pix-Art on F-Droid support both OMEMO and OTR, either
natively (Pix-Art) or via free/libre plugins (Pidgin).
Does the noise only concern libreboot t400 computers?
I have several t400 computers. I have not installed
libreboot on them and none of them is noisy.
It would sell very easily. I think there is potential with the RISC-V for this.
Im certain Purism and System 76 are looking into it.
