Hi,
I installed owncloud client, as instructions from

What happens if you close both Gnote/Owncloud and restart them manually? Does
the problem persist?
Thanks for the information; I just blindly trusted Google about this. I'll be
more careful in the future with these so-called shops.
I found this one (ignore the link in my previous post):

Also, I advise you to read this Phoronix article so you know what you're
buying:

It is loaded as i can see from the log.
But the details show Unknown and fallback.
Youtube works flawlessly, and I suppose playing videos and dvds also should
be no problem. But trisquel says to me that the driver intel is not used or
not known.
Is everything correct? Should i just ignore
Gnote icon not loading properly when restarting the app
There is not a single warning or error in the log you show us.
Well I guess the problem is in the buggy desktop environment Trisquel uses
since I also had problems with tray icons. Try to create a bug report and see
if someone will be able to fix this. There are also different desktop
environments that you may try.
A search on 'owncloud system tray icon problems' turns up a couple of
outstanding similar problems with the OwnCloud system tray icon in other
O/Ses. I suggest you try OwnCloud for support,
If memory serves me having -s in the account name made it impossible for me
to register. Perhaps you're having a case of just that.
IMO STFU with advice like this when there's bugs upstream evident from a web
search.
I notice the list doesn't include haswell which is what OP has (based on
other information).
Maybe you can see something in the raw log output in the reply above?
Indeed. It was just to show you that I had the intel driver loaded properly
by tge xorg.conf file. Attached is the full startup log for X11. Can you or
someone else see something in particular that might cause Trisquel to not
recognize the card in Details under System settings?

You don't have to verbally offend me just because I'm speaking from
experience and haven't searched online for an answer. Yes, it looks like the

From what leny2010 pointed out, you should rather urge this problem upstream.
If that doesn't help, you can also try MATE desktop environment (Gnome 2
fork) and see if this problem will still happen there.

I already know that most of these issues can be solved just by searching for
the key information as that's what most people does (including me) but I
haven't done that for a reason since I assumed that the user facing a problem
has already made some research before asking. Also, just
Hello,
So I'm running the latest image of Trisquel 7 amd64 on my Acer notebook and
I've installed Trisquel alongside Windows and Debian.
After a completely fresh install of all these operating systems grub
(Trisquel's Grub) has been installed by default requesting a username and

Howdy!
At least on tris 6 you can find the credentials for your install at
/etc/grub.d/01_PASSWORD
Probably removing those will remove the question.
Hope you can soon get rid of the non-free stuff.
Hi lembas,
Thanks so much for the quick reply! I hope to be able to purge my computer of
non-free stuff soon too. Most of my computer is free at least due to Debian
being free by default.
So I followed the path to 01_PASSWORD and I'm wondering, how do you open this
file to edit it. I
Nvidia GeForce GTX 760 is a pretty good bet: http://ur1.ca/ibls2
I'm surprised there aren't more of these as the formats are royalty free and
if you want to upload to the web, you can do it natively in WebM.
I wouldn't want Theora support, but a more modern codec like VP9. Of course
Vorbis or Opus for audio to complement the video in the WebM container.
Hi again lembas,
I figured it out and I managed to remove the username and password request
from grub.
I opened a terminal and entered the following command to see the username and
password credentials:
sudo cat /etc/grub.d/01_PASSWORD
Then I entered the following command to edit the
Hi again lembas,
Hello,
So I installed the latest Trisquel 7 image and grub2 requested a username and

my attemps at the credintials resulted in being redirected by to the main
grub menu. Here's what I did to

Thanks lembas!
ok thats good news somehow...
the website was giving me some ideas, but like you said,
it is very incomplete.
That site sucks anyways and it hasn't been a good source of info. Its past
its time anyways and time to shut it down and move on.
I wouldn't recommend gnewsense over Trisquel due to the fact that gnewsense
is so damn old. Trisquel 7 is way overdue, but at least 6 (based off of

Why would they remove Trisquel from that list and still have Fedora? Doesn't
Fedora include non-free kernel and firmware like standard Ubuntu? If they are
also worried about a corporation that has bigger interests at hand, how are
they ignoring Red Hat? Fedora is the testing ground for their
