They might mean the program is not in the repositories for Debian or Ubuntu.
You can download and compile or run the prepackages version, but there are no
.deb versions etc... Only trying mind read, but thats my guess.
I think Fedora has it in their yum package manager or as a .rpm, so
hi
nao I test the sors

it would be

if you want to install the package its apt-get install
the command i posted downloads the .deb file
so you could use that in debian
with dpkg -i icecat.deb
See http://shop.gluglug.org.uk/product/libreboot-installation-service/ . They
also mention installing an Atheros wireless NIC.
My DisplayWrite 3 disks came to me about 1985 with a PCXT; they're definitely
360KB. They're double-sided; I never had a PC with the higher-capacity drives
that I can remember.
There's so little memory on a PCXT that I cannot imagine a Trisquel
installation running on one.
If there is
You do know that a server is just a program running on a computer, right? If
you've ever played Freeciv, that uses a server-client model; any time you
start even a single-player game, a server is started for the client to
connect to locally. The only real limiting factors in hosting a server
ESR is great for programs that want stability over latest and greatest,
similar to LTS with Ubuntu, or stable with Debian, LTS with Trisquel etc...
Schools, businesses etc..., are better served with ESR, also think ESR is a
better choice for Trisquel so Ruben does not have to spend so much

Can you verify, you can only turn a standard lenovo thinkpad x200 with a p
cpu into a libreboot x200 if you have appropriate hardware to execute a flash
on a chip on the mainboard?
i think you misunderstood my question
i am already running trisquel 7
what i am trying to do is install libreboot a libre bios:
http://libreboot.org/
If the router can be flashed with free firmware and works with LibreCMC's
libre kernel, embedded software, and web interface, then what is the problem
as long as it all plays nice and the hardware?
you need install Bison
if dont work
install old bison
Either way, Think Penguin sells you a router that respects your freedom;
that router probably doesn't.
According to http://librecmc.org/librecmc/wiki?name=TL-WR841ND, the WR841ND
DOES respect your freedom when using the LibreCMC firmware and is a
fraction of the cost of the Think Penguin
I'm just repeating what Chris said back when Think Penguin's router was
actually based on this one (a couple months ago, I think). I don't see
anything on that page even remotely resembling a promise that the router you
linked to respects your freedom. It just says that LibreCMC works on two
there are deb versions:
sudo apt-get download icecat
Are you even reading my posts? I never said it wasn't OK, I said that not all
of them are OK. It's OK if you do get the right version. That's why Think
Penguin used to base its router on the one that respects your freedom. This
is not all that complex.
I know what a server is ;)
I assumed that you have to install those apps on a running _webserver_ and
that's what i didn't want to do if i can avoid it.
And yeah, i was mainly thinking about speed and connectivity..
i just checked my upload and it's about 800 kbit/sec,
so the resulting video
+1 for you...Perhaps in 20 years people will only say GNU and wonder what
Linux is/was...LOL. This would be especially true if GNU/Hurd is ever
universally adopted.
For Debian? If you search their repository you get:
You have searched for packages that names contain icecat in suite(s) stable,
all sections, and all architectures.
Sorry, your search gave no results

and it didnt give a error that the version of bison was wrong
I still had one running last year. What a nightmare had to use printer
buffers so the computer would not freeze. Not to mention paper costs. It came
on a single sheet, 500 pages(A5) long perforated on both sides and it still
managed to jam.
Hey, any luck with formatting/opening/writing ?
It would be nice if Ruben's IceCat versions are pushed upstream into
Debian/Ubuntu as well all users will benefit from this alternative browser.
IceCat is free software so Debian and Ubuntu can use it already if they want.
I don't know what you mean by “pushing” in this context (I know what

this with dmesg | tail:

Trisquel calls this floppy drive a 1.44M device also ... I'm out-voted.
Same result with a different floppy disk, ca. 1992.
The drive spins up as
HuangLao, did you actually get JWM to work on Belenos? I tried and tried on
Toutatis and finally gave up and decided that Flux would have to be good
enough. I will be so grateful to you if you did and can give me any tips as
far as workarounds to make it look like Damn Small Linux did circa
thank you Super!
Jaded, don't forget JWM (Joes window Manager) or just Openbox with tint2. I
have some good configs for both if interested.
I actually switched to that wallpaper now, it is quite nice :)
We ought to find better business models than selling copies of digital works.

Yeah, that sounds about right. Either libraries missing or flags not included
in the compile command.

I always like to think that it won't happen before Nigel Mansell takes
another title (considering how good Linux is, is my opinion), but I guess
that's just me.
Firefox Hello?
Just give her a link and surely Safari should work decently with it, no?
This is where I don't understand the ESR release. In order to get security
updates, someone has to go through the effort to download and install the
newer ESR release. How is this any different than getting the latest Firefox?
Or work in a factory or do construction.
My idea of minimalism would be Docky/Cairo-dock/tint2 with synapse :)
I'd be interested to see your configs. There isn't anything much better than
spending a weekend getting the perfect setup, right? :)
Forgot to put the website: http://www.linphone.org/
Also, don't forget to go to media encryption and choose ZRTP. You don't want
them to hear what you say! (again, japanese chicks... kinky stuff... you
don't what them to hear you!!!)
Hello.
Having had the same problems, I would suggest Linphone. Is free software and
it works very well in android, mac, linux, windows whatever.
Good luck with that japanese chick, I hear they are into kinky stuff ;-D good
luck my friend.
If you need help with linphone (which you probably
Thanks, but i would have to set up my own vmux server, right?
I don't have the hardware and time to setup my own server at the moment,
sadly.
Good luck with that japanese chick, I hear they are into kinky stuff
:D
Thanks, i will try it out!!
But it's only voice, right?
@both of you
thanks a lot, i will resort to mumble once every video option out there

Oh, subrosa looks really interesting... though i fear the same problems as
with webrtc, i will try it!
Are all xmpp server fast enough to do voice and video?
About Trisquel's view of the floppy: The OS says 1.44MB, but it's really
360KB. I'll go find another 5-1/4 inch floppy drive, just in case this one's
defective or just plain tired. Almost all the floppies I've saved have data
on them, but there must be blanks somewhere in the various totes.
She'll open the mail and just follow the instructions - everybody can do
that as long as he/she knows how to read
hmm sound easy in theory ;)
i hope she'll get it done.
But first i have to look for a working solution and maximize my chances of
succeeding fast by choosing the best programs...
i have purchased a old x60 thinkpad computer from ebay
with the intent to flash libreboot on it
so it will become a fully libre computer
how risky is this?
what are the chances of bricking the device?
if anyone of this forum has done this
have easy was it?

tomlukey- my knowledge of gnu is very very basic. I'm a newb, so I cannot
certainly help you with this - I just wanted to say that your project is good
and that you should persist until you make it!
cheers bro
Check out these guides provided by the libreboot devs if you haven't already.
They are very well written and there exists documentation to rescue a bricked
machine.
I believe future libreboot releases will support Guix and ProteanOs.
Here's a nice size to capacity table with the year they were introduced in:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Floppy_disk#Sizes.2C_performance_and_capacity
1.44MB sounds more likely. I was handed a few dozens of these, when I
replaced a point of sale computer at an Hotel. Those make for nice cup
Yes I really like this waalpaper. Here you have it if you want to use it on
your desktop!
I started to refer to gnu/linux using the word gnu !
It is 90% correct, it's just 3 letters so lazy typists are well suited, and
it seems fair to exclude a little the kernel - open source world has been
ignoring gnu for 20 years so it seems right to me to return the favor!
Just a note of experience from this long-time (three weeks) Trisquel user:
Make a bootable flash drive (I used an 8GB one) and load Trisquel's iso with
the nice usb-flashdrive installer. Add as many applications with the software
installer as you like, being sure to check how much free space
Yes, it works!
Now anyone can download the script without major problems.
Thanl you.
Hello everyone,
After doing an update some things aren't working as before. Gnome settings
are not saved every time I change something. If I go to system settings and
change anything, close it and open it again the settings are lost.
I deleted gnome2 and gconf folders and rebooted but no

A good book I started about a week ago was Linux from Scratch (Ahem,
publisher, don't you mean GNU/Linux from Scratch? :p)- it goes into detail
about how the kernel works, how GNU/Linux boots, and the basics of using it.
I've just found this...

there isn't a folder like .gnome3.
I have a TL-WR841N v8.4 at work (it's one of those that looks like a melted

unity package?
I suppose it was but let's see...

introduced in a later corresponding ubuntu version.
* If you're running Belenos, what is your output ofgsettings list-recursively

That's what updates are for, eh? :)
I deleted gnome2
Trisquel uses gnome 3.
Thanks a lot for suggestions. Do your suggested routers have a hardware
switch to turn wifi on and off?
