It would be nice to hear if anyone has tried these and compared them.
Re: [Trisquel-users] So Linux-Libre Kernel 4.7 fails to boot properly
What do you see in logs? What graphics card do you have?
Re: [Trisquel-users] Do this wifi cards work with free software?
yes, I was thinking on the same. Maybe it´s the best option

I heard about this today, looks like a nice Skype alternative: https://ring.cx

Re: [Trisquel-users] So Linux-Libre Kernel 4.7 fails to boot properly
Hi, I talked with someone on #trisquel IRC channel that experienced this problem; It seems you're using the Linux kernel provided by jxself's repository (since Trisquel repository doesn't provide such updated kernel yet). I had a similar (not the same) problem with version 4.1.28. jxself told me to look for the problem on the *Linux* kernel bug tracker at kernel.org (since *Linux-libre* is just a set of scripts for deblobbing and such, not a kernel). Now I know that, to correct the failures present on 4.1.28, version 4.1.29 must be used instead, or use a version prior to .28 until .29 arrives. signature.asc Description: This is a digitally signed message part

I assume you installed Linux-libre from jxself's repository. You should contact him: https://jxself.org/contact.shtml
[Trisquel-users] So Linux-Libre Kernel 4.7 fails to boot properly
I've already downgraded my kernel back to the Linux-Libre LTS but it was a slightly annoying way to start off my day. The text message on the screen said some weird errors about mdadm and not being able to create groups. Anyway, has anyone else had this glitch? I really don't need to upgrade now and can afford to wait until a patch is released so I'm not super concerned.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Problem with tar archive and SO
Resolution: The problem was indeed a malfunctioning memory module. I have tested my memory with memtester and it gave me various errors. I changed memory modules I discover what was the one behaving faulty. The problem is resolved. Many many thanks Magic Banana. Hugs and kisses to all; See you...
Re: [Trisquel-users] Screen resolution changed after changing it in a program
Probably the easiest solution with games that exhibit this issue is to write launch scripts that contain the resolution reset command at the end. Detecting the docking station is a lot trickier. You can check dmesg and the connect it and recheck dmesg to see what it saw. Other parts of the solution might include udev or incron watching for specific changes in /sys, /proc or /dev. For example your docking station might come with extra usb ports and as a hacky solution you could use the usb port count as an indicator.
Re: [Trisquel-users] What brand / size of flash drive would you recommend ?
would this be a good flash drive? Corsair Flash Voyager GTX USB 3.0 128GB for the librem lap--- But in all seriousness xD would that work for booting the eoma laptop/desktop hardware. I feel quite sure it will succeed.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Libre storage device?
You would have to convince them to sell you one/ look at their nitrokey storage app to know if you are really right about trusting it... that being said, I think it could be really useful... :)
[Trisquel-users] Re : What brand / size of flash drive would you recommend ?
An excellent reply (as always). Back to the original question, "running Trisquel on" a flash storage is a bad idea unless Zem Mattress is talking about a system he will rarely use (not on a daily or even a weekly basis).
[Trisquel-users] Re : Do this wifi cards work with free software?
Or you can opt for a Wifi dongle (i.e., USB-connected) with a supported chipset. AR9170, AR9270 or AR9271 for instance. The problem is: it is tough to know the chipset of a given model and, worse, a same model may be sold with different chipsets along its life (that is probably why, it is not even written on the wrapping). The safest solution is to buy from http://libre.thinkpenguin.com or http://tehnoetic.com (to the best of my knowledge, the only two vendors that guarantee that all their hardware work with Linux-libre, Trisquel's kernel). Or you take advice from https://trisquel.info/forum/14-fantastic-wifi-adaptor-tp-link-tl-wn722n a reasonably recent post (one can hope the chipset has not been changed since then). Or you can try the second-hand market (if the vendor indicates the chipset).
Re: [Trisquel-users] Hello from new member
Thank you for the feedback. It sounds like it was a worthy activity and I can see how such a task can be quite nostalgic. Thanks again.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Libre storage device?
I believe only the 'nitrokey storage' has mass storage the otehr versions are for storing encryptions keys/passwords/passphrases etc. And it seems the storage version is not yet available. I've been keeping an eye out for when it becomes available myself.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Hello from new member
Yes, I only recently discovered 33mail myself. One of the guys behind it (the other is his brother) is the same guy who started and still heads up the freenet project which is another plus.
