Oh most definitely olala! talk about a nutter... ;)
Re: [Trisquel-users] Trisquel 8 is almost 6 months late. Do something. Anything.
Agreed.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Purism Is Still Hoping To Build A GNU/Linux Free Software Librem Smartphone
I agree they shouldn't attack other companies that do the job right and also they should answer more calls. Yep there is a lot of issues with that company one of the biggest being, they cannot achieve such success with intel. at least they aren't trying to pass nivida as if it is a free software friendly processor anymore... nivida = very free software unfriendly... to the point of hate
Re: [Trisquel-users] Purism Is Still Hoping To Build A GNU/Linux Free Software Librem Smartphone
Fair point, I would agree... :)
Re: [Trisquel-users] The shorter and thorough guide to updating Libreboot on an X200
I will try it again another time, but I hope a solution can be found and then a guide specifically for troubleshooting Full Disk Encryption is put on the website...
Re: [Trisquel-users] Trisquel 8 is almost 6 months late. Do something. Anything.
The more things change, the more they stay the same. https://trisquel.info/en/forum/trisquel-6-missed-another-deadline-project-dead
Re: [Trisquel-users] Trisquel 8 is almost 6 months late. Do something. Anything.
Due to an array of critical security vulnerabilities, it is definitely time to push an update to the users. I've migrated my systems away from Trisquel until the issue is resolved. Debian without enabling the non-free repository is a good alternative option.
Re: [Trisquel-users] The shorter and thorough guide to updating Libreboot on an X200
Thanks, that's what I thought, I just had to be sure. I'll look into your other comments later, when I have some time.
[Trisquel-users] Re : Trisquel 8 is almost 6 months late. Do something. Anything.
he's been at it for a while..gives a blast and goes ..comes back in a few days with another topic...why don't you troll in the troll hole so we can unleash back ??? or just redirect him into the the troll hole ..haha
Re: [Trisquel-users] Trisquel 8 is almost 6 months late. Do something. Anything.
I'm not sure... Maybe it's because of your trolling all over the place.
[Trisquel-users] Trisquel 8 is almost 6 months late. Do something. Anything.
Ubuntu 16.10 comes out this month, meaning 16.04 will be out for 6 months. Since Trisquel 8 is based on 16.04, it's really shitty that we have had to wait 6 months. What is the damn holdup?
Re: [Trisquel-users] Purism Is Still Hoping To Build A GNU/Linux Free Software Librem Smartphone
There is a significant question in the survey: How important is FSF RYF? I think that makes it worth taking.

Site works great for me without javascript, hence 10/10, all the functionality I need :) Just saying, I didn't down-vote you, in fact I'll up-vote right now since your post is neither spam nor offtopic/offensive/stupid/whatever
[Trisquel-users] Re : Automation, free software and moral duty
You absolutely want the software you write under a copylefted license, probably the GNU GPLv3+. A competitor that would like to build similar robots running proprietary software would then have to rewrite everything. Assuming it is much work, it probably won't and will end up improving your software. Improvements that must be distributed under the same license. It has nothing to do with patents and everything to do with copyright (well, copyleft). A patent should not impose any restriction on the software. It should purely deal with the hardware.
[Trisquel-users] Re : Version 25.1 of the Emacs text editor is now available.
Writer is not a "text editor" (like Emacs, GEdit, etc.), it is a WYSIWYG "text processor". Different uses, although you can do (not WYSIWYG) text processing in a text editor (e.g., writing in LaTeX). And, everybody is underusing Emacs: Emacs is huge! You cannot know it all.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Automation, free software and moral duty
I know this is a different issue, but there is some similarity: when creating online comics (think XKCD), the licensed that can be used allows libre use of the work, with one limitation: no commercial use. Basically, do whatever you want with it, but don't re-sell it. I like it, but it's very case-specific. Food for thought.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Version 25.1 of the Emacs text editor is now available.
evil-mode rocks if you like Vim's way. I don't really have a need for such an advanced text editor (I'm no programmer/dev), but it's fun. Also I will at least get skills to manipulate text and lines in bulk, which is not doable in a normal text editor like Writer. It will basically be a time-saver to me.
Re: [Trisquel-users] The shorter and thorough guide to updating Libreboot on an X200
I don't have the problem, but out of curiosity: I think either vmlinuz is really missing, or GRUB links to it the wrong way. vmlinuz is supposed to be in the /boot folder as far as I know (https://superuser.com/questions/62575/where-is-vmlinux-on-my-ubuntu-installation), so that would be the first thing I'd check. From there, either it's a problem with the Trisquel install, or GRUB needs to be updated I guess. Either way, you'd neet to chroot (a.k.a. "mount the installed partition"). If you have no /boot, maybe it's on its own partition: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=132806
Re: [Trisquel-users] The shorter and thorough guide to updating Libreboot on an X200
I don't mind, I feel stupid myself regarding that stuff. But the fact is, with the guides I gave you, I managed to chroot into my drive. And that's knowing all too well how irritating this stuff is. Also, no one can help if you're not more precise with your error messages: only two different partitions will turn on, ok, but which ones? At which stage of chrooting are you? Did you try creating a /user folder as I suggested? etc. Anyway, I'll let others share their input then.
Re: [Trisquel-users] The shorter and thorough guide to updating Libreboot on an X200
He didn't, he can't boot manually (cryptomount -a etc.). Specifically because of that vmlinuz thing. To me this is not a Libreboot issue, but a problem with the way Trisquel was install (I didn't have that issue, personally).
Re: [Trisquel-users] Version 25.1 of the Emacs text editor is now available.
I love emacs but I love my fingers more. :) ps: I've remapped default key bindings.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Automation, free software and moral duty
If correct, all software will be free. Mechanical design drawings will be free. Only I think would be useful for a patent that can not be manufactured in bulk. If someone wanted to, I could make a profit on each unit sold. I would not restrict freedom of anyone. What worries me is that I authorize the manufacture and launch their models with non-free software.
Re: [Trisquel-users] Automation, free software and moral duty
Thank you for your criticism. The software will be free, both client and server. What is affected by the patent is the mechanical, electrical and electronic design of the work. But the patent focuses only thing is to ban the production on a mass scale by large companies for profit. Mechanical design drawings will be free, so you could use it to make your own machine, but what I want is to market mass prohibit, for example 10,000 units. Big business would do well to make use of a free work to get commercial benefit and even do it with non-free software. I would draft a patent that allows the study, copy, modify and distribute but for nonprofit use. For example, it could be used freely in the educational field.
