Davide, I have a bit more time today:

My T400 from Minifree arrived on june 27th.
I chose the version with 4GiB of RAM and a 160GiB HDD.
I placed my order on the june 1st.
I'm glad your order worked out. I ordered an X200 from Gluglug.org.uk
(which I understand is Minifree's previous name) in 2005 and
I am happy with my Minifree T400 as well. It's in good condition and has
good battery life. I asked Leah for help setting it up differently than I
initially asked; she responded helpfully and within a reasonable time.
Could you try booting with a different kernel?
Wait
New Idea... Could you create a new user and see if with a new user it works?
I am getting out of ideas :/ specially because you say it works on other
computers and it worked before.
This is weird. I hope that a fresh install will solve it then :/
Or maybe someone else could join and suggest something else??
The connection issue looks separate from the missing free firmware. Can you
log in the terminal you get by pressing Ctrl+Alt+F1 (or Ctrl+Alt+F2 or ... or
Ctrl+Alt+F6)? If so, you can execute the following command:
$ sudo apt-get install open-ath9k-htc-firmware
Sure, I just added exec i3.
But my original one is like this:
#!/bin/sh
# /etc/X11/xinit/xinitrc
#
# global xinitrc file, used by all X sessions started by xinit (startx)
# invoke global X session script
. /etc/X11/Xsession
/usr/lib/polkit-gnome/polkit-gnome-authentication-agent-1 # &
exec
Everything was working for a while, but now whenever I try to log in I get
the same "missing free firmware" message for a few minutes and then return to
the login screen. From the login screen I am able to see ATHEROS UB93 and
connect to wifi, so the device still seems to be working, but the
What does ~./xinitrc says could yei share it?
Could you check if you have xorg-xinit and it is configured properly?
https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Xinit
Thoug, it must be because root works.. :/
Maybe install a different Desktop Environment see if it works?
The "make" package provides GNU Make. "build-essential" is for those who
build .deb packages. The description of "build-essential" starts with:
If you do not plan to build Debian packages, you don't need this package.
Those logs look normal. Do they still increase until you run out of disk
space?
Uh, something new:
* I deleted i3 (apt-get purge, autoremove, clean), and startx still lands me
in i3
* I removed the (empty) i3 folder present in .config, but I still land in
i3...
Just to check, are you in the same folder as the 'flashrom' directory (i.e.
does is that directory listed if you run ls)? Also, does the
flashrom_lenovobios_sst command have execute permissions enabled?
This actually sounds like a feasible idea- with a data adapter of some sort,
it seems like it could be possible to use it as a 'phone' when necessary.
Well, perhaps the providers of it have to contact the FSF to ask for an
evaluation?
If there is indeed interest, then I guess one could ask the providers to
do it. However, I don't know the providers nor their product very well,
so I'm not able to do it right now, also because of time
I wonder if the disk you are attempting to install Trisquel isn't low on
disk space...

I know nothing about VirtualBox, but I think it's telling you to install
GNU make. I think that the "build-essential" package provides GNU make.

Well, that's exactly one of greatest problems with proprietary software: no
one can know other than the developers. The used literally is forced to

Thanks to everyone for the information! I am using a Lenovo Notebook ideapad
110. The internal wifi doesn't work with Trisquel so I am using an usb wifi.
I attach the files that give me problmes. If somone needs more information
let me know...
I don't use QEMU that much (because I'm not to involved in things
related that need using it), but I think you can do like so (the "$ "
are indications that the following in the same line is a command):
1. Create a virtual machine with a maximum size of 1 GiB (qcow2 is way

As it could be important, one thing I did during the install is the
following:
the /boot partition I set up as the one to be initialized.
But now in my directory tree, I see in / another /boot folder, and also
another /lost+found (the same I find in /home).
I only have a .bashrc, and a .profile which redirects to .bashrc.
I renamed it to _old (same wit .xinitrc), the issue still remains.
I use RStudio, the desktop edition of which is licensed under the AGPL:
https://www.rstudio.com/ . I have collaborators who use gedit and emacs. If
you're already comfortable using emacs with LaTeX, then emacs sounds like a
good choice for you.
Compared to a working install, /home, and the folders and files inside it
have the same ownership and permissions.
I can try with a fresh copy of .xinitrc from /etc/X11/xinit and modify it
accordingly (with exec i3).
OK, I'll try this, thanks again.
Yes, no dedicated /home encryption, but an encrypted partition containing
/home, /root and /swap.
On the other hand, I have other fully encrypted disks (nothing installed on
them though).
No custom config files by default yet (besides the .xinitrc for testing).
I notice now that /home
As you said, checking files and directories permissions is also a good thing
to do.
If that doesn't... Then I would rename ~/.config/i3/config
And after that maybe .bash_profile or .bashrc or .bash
Rename them to something else, if the problem continues then you can change
the name back to the original.
In an extreme case I would rename all ~./config to something like
sudo: ./flashrom/i686/flashrom_lenovobios_sst: command not found
sudo: ./flashrom/i686/flashrom_lenovobios_sst: command not found
Hello,
I am having a problem installing Libreboot on my Thinkpad x60. I have already
installed Trisquel and when I type the suggested command from the guide,
being for backup of the original BIOS or installing the coreboot right away,
I get an error message :
sudo:
Or my own solution: Buy a bigger purse and grab a cheap, used eeePC that
runs Trisquel flawlessly, lol.
The dumb phone can stay home if I really want a portable computer and don't
need a telephone at all.
Ok.
So currently you have an install with only disk encryption apart from /boot
but /home has not its own encryption?
Do you have any custom config files? I would delete them first
Many thanks for your help albertoefg!
root user has a different config file that is not in /home but in /root
If you encrypted disk and /home when you unlock at boot you are only
unblocking the disk but not /home
Make sure /home is decrypted before startx
