I don't need VT-X.
I looked at my board and it seems I have Macronix chips, but I still don't
understand the flash instructions on the libreboot page.
Since my last software update of Ubuntu 16.04, the name Gnu/Trisquel has
replaced Ubuntu at the top of the bootloader menu. Error reports now read
"Sorry, Trisquel 6.0.1 has experienced an internal error."
Trisquel GNU/Linux is not an official version of Ubuntu. Why did this happen?
What
I'm assuming that you're using GNOME, the default desktop environment in
Trisquel.
To edit the launch menu, go to 'System Settings->Main Menu'.
To add an item to you bottom panel, right click on a blank part of it and
select "Add to Panel."
I have been struggling to figure out how to select what shows up in my launch
menu and my bottom panel, to no avail. They are out of control. Please
someone guide me through how to manage them. Tell me what info I need to give
you so you can help me. Thanks in advance!

Try using Zoneminder. It is in the repos and you can use capture cards with
analog cams or IP cams that offer rtsp streams. I've run a few systems this
way.
It's a beautiful system, especially when I'm not locked out of it. I was
hesitant about fully switching to a free life so. Kept my MacBook for a while
and just sold it last week to go full freedom full Time but forgot to
decrypt my passwords that I had stored on my MacBook before I
Ok, I found it. Once LXDE is installed, there is a menu to choose the desktop
environment if you click the triskellion button on the login screen :)
Hi pizzaiolo, actually I saw that and it was useful in getting
Libreboot/Trisquel up and running. I'll see if I can add anything that might
help other people who are also trying to liberate Macbooks :)
Hi, I'm just wondering if it is possible on Trisquel to switch the desktop
environment (temporarily) from Gnome to LXDE? A particular Java application
that I use has a known issue with Gnome, so I'd like to be able to switch to
LXDE temporarily to use it. I installed LXDE from the Add/Remove
We have a wiki article tracking everything about macbooks with free software:

In terms of heat: I bought it off of Ebay and, when I received it, the fan
wasn't working - the laptop kept cutting out when the cpu got too hot. So, I
installed a new fan and now it seems to be running fine. My wife has a
Macbook Pro running OS X and it doesn't seem significantly hotter or
How's it doing with regard to heat issues? Does it run hotter, does the fan
run more often and louder etc? Another user here took drastic steps
including drilling holes in the bottom and replacing the optical drive with a
copper heat sink to deal with that.
oldest version of trisquel for which I could find packages available publicly
is 3.5, found it here:

I could not find anything older so far, if anybody stumbles on it - please
let me know!

Oh well..
Yeah follow the thread. I want a RYFM X2 too :)
x5460 is the best CPU for this motherboard. VT-X works fine with this one.
What vita_cell said is correct, it is very easy to break traces if tin is not
hot enough when extracting (I ruined a motherboard like this, although I
could try to repair it)
You can also clip test if you want to
It would be great to document how to modify key entropy when creating the
LUKS volume. (By default, it is too high IIRC)
You can do it easily if using cmdline but with the Trisquel install GUI, I'm
not sure it is feasible..
And also how to avoid typing twice your password at boot. (using a
Thanks,
Is there a way to encrypt the disk without reinstalling trisquel on a
computer that's already configured with trisquel and libreboot? I have
libiquity taurinus, Sorry if that's stupid, Ive only had my system for a
short time.
Update: I set up a 1GB swap file in /mnt and it seems a lot happier now.
Still, it seems a bit strange that the installer didn't set up any swap
space.
As the title says I lost my admin password and am locked out, I've read
through this thread https://trisquel.info/en/forum/locked-out-admin-log
Since I bought this computer with trisquel installed on it as well as
libreboot I'm not sure if the same process in the posts mentioned above is
