A slight detail: youtube-dl may be running nonfree JavaScript in the
background. AVideo is a drop-in replacement and will work with any program
that uses youtube-dl: https://notabug.org/GPast/avideo
Is the practical information in those books under a free license suitable for
documentation? According to the FSF, all practical works, of which programs
are just one type, should be free.
Though I have considered installing Antergos and migrating, I have never done
so. I have always successfully installed and used a system from the regular
installer. The resulting system worked well. I also installed with the
graphical Parabola installer, but I didn't use the graphical
Matrix.
I use Riot to text my family. It supports emoji, voice chat, video chat,
text chat, group chat, and maybe some other things I don't know of yet.
My family finds it easy to use. They say the mobile app is no worse than any
other app. In particular, they said it was similar to
Telegram is not free software.
First, let me say that there is nothing wrong with the server-side code being
proprietary.

The issue with Telegram is its CLIENT. The client is NOT free software. It

Yes, it will be free. But, if you distribute it to others, you may want to
make sure no programs or documentation point to or suggest proprietary
software.
Also, you may want to check out Parabola and Debian's patches. Some free
software compiles with proprietary parts by default.
I have two laptops. My main laptop, a Libreboot X200, runs Slackware 14.2
with the Free eXtension Pack from FreeSlack. My second laptop is a dead
Libreboot X60s with Trisquel 7.
I do not recommend FreeSlack. A lot of packages come from the
slackbuilds.org build scripts, and weeding out
You can buy a Wifi USB adapter.
Using Trisquel in my main and only laptop.
I'm running Trisquel 7 on a librebooted ThinkPad x60. I may switch to
Parabola because as a musician it does make a difference to have the latest
version of some software, but for a typical user I would recommend Trisquel
100%. It's stable, it's intuitive for beginners, and the community
I know this isn't a Trisquel question, but I'm currently going through the
Linux From Scratch guide to build my own system, as it seems like fun and I'm
interested to learn more about what goes on 'under the hood' of GNU/Linux.
Obviously, I want to make it without non-free software, so I'm
Yeay! It's back! :)
Thanks, guys.
I'll give that a try and see. Thanks! :-)
Hi nickylodeon, thanks for your input. I had to disable it because otherwise
I couldn't access this site, as the browser kept on freezing. However, I will
try adding trisquel.info to the whitelist and some of the other suggestions
on here and see if that helps.
Running Uruk GNU, 2.0, Beta 1 on an Asus EEPC as we speak. Another of my
laptops has Trisquel 7. My other laptops have other distros. No
virtualization or multi-boot, here!
Thank you both!
Welcome, gnunix.
This is my favourite distro. Since November 2015 I only run Trisquel on all
my computers, for any purpose.
Trisquel 7 uses GNOME 3 in fallback mode.
I run Trisquel 7 Mini on my old EeePC HD1000 netbook. Works fine, although
the wifi antenna is no longer working ... I use an ethernet connection at
home, and I can tether it to my phone when I am out of the house with it.

I'm running Trisquel 7 on my laptop (a librebooted Macbook 2,1).
But I don't want to ruin my laptop by opening it and replacing the wireless
card

Are you talkig aboutthe free parabola or the one is not?
I run parabola because I like cutting edge.
i3 It is not recommended for new people in GNU/Linux(-libre).
♥ indeed
Trisquel 7 uses GNOME, Trisquel 7 Mini uses LXDE and Trisquel 8 uses MATE.
Question above ^^
You could check eBay, I've bought wireless cards that are supported by libre
drivers for 5-10€ with shipping.
What do you run then?
Nice!
i'd love to run it daily, but my wireless driver is not supported and I'm not
in quite the financial state to go switch it with a free one..
I do. I've being using Trisquel for quite a time now. Only with the mate DE.
I used to run Debian, but that was until I met Trisquel. Since than, Trisquel
is the apple of my eyes.
You should run Postfix.
I run this distron on my main pc. I use it for my homeworks and a web server.
I don't at the moment.so there's that
I have 5 desktop PC and two laptop computers.
2 desktop run devuan
2 desktop run debian jesse
1 desktop running trisquel for my daughter.
1 laptop running slackel, PARTITION WITH windows 7.
1 laptop runs only FREEDOS VERSION.
Hello ADFENO,
did they get back to you? Libre computing for phones is something I'm
interested in :)

Trisquel 7 is the only system on all the computers I administrate: desktop
computer at work, my laptop, my wife's laptop, my parents' desktop and
laptop.
This is great, I signed.
Two takes on this.
First: http://sealedabstract.com/code/nsa-proof-your-e-mail-in-2-hours/ is a
guide that seems to do a fine job at explaining how to run an email server.
Second: You might not want to do it in the first place. I actually considered
it myself and ended up reading an article
Reminded me of a few virtual installs of Trisquel. I tend to overlook them as
they don't occupy much space or any resources if I don't need them.
I'd sum it up in saying that it has access to a lot of things that can
identify you. It's a kind of design issue - if a website wants to display a
certain font in order to make their website look all shiny, it can ask your
browser to provide a list of fonts that it supports. If that's
I do on my HP. Dual booting with Devuan. My Asus Eee PC has Trisquel Mini
installe. On yet another laptop, I run Trisquel virtually.
Two of my laptops are on Trisquel, though I am considering the move to
Parabola for one of them.
I'm enjoying it a *lot*. I love where you are going with this!
I do, f0r3v3r
I'm dual-booting it with Debian Jessie at the moment- Jessie for personal
use, Belenos for school/work purposes.
I 'solved' this my backing up my home files and reinstall T7.0 while
overwriting home as well, and copying the backed up files to the new home.
Thanks.
It is rather difficult to no which sites can be trusted though!
What is the (semi-) technical answer to why js is such a problem?
I am looking forward to that :-)
Just curious, since not everyone on the IRC runs the distro.
