Hi Mr_Robot,
I use wifi from time to time, once I couldn't connect to a wifi device, and
seemed to me that the wifi adapter was disabled. After trying too many
things, I found that it was disabled in the hardware. So I press-ed FN+F8
(Function key + the key that has Wifi Antenna that posting signal symbol in
it, in my laptop(Toshiba) is the F8 key) and the wifi worked.

This doesn't help monitoring, but you could try using a different DNS instead
of the one from your ISP.

For example:
The openNIC servers https://www.opennic.org/
openDNS from Cisco https://www.opendns.com/
or the public DNS from google, if you trust them.

"however it still has its name and logo trademarked"

To be sure, trademarks in and of themselves aren't a problem. It only became
a problem when Mozilla included terms for distributing copies of the software
in the trademark license. Trademarks are supposed to identify a source, not
control distribution of copies. Distribution (i.e., the making of copies) is
supposed to be the realm of copyright but Mozilla's trying to go there via
trademark instead. Sadly, the Palemoon people are trying to do that too.

Thanks. I believe it’s a bug in MATE (I use the default MATE from Trisquel
installation). Is there any fix for the GUI? Or perhaps this will be fixed
with Trisquel 9?

As for the CMOS battery, I guess it’s worth changing it anyway, it’s not
expensive at all.
