Trisquel with a rolling release cycle.
Indeed, Abrowser now appears to be the main source of unexpected changes. The
default start page configuration keeps changing with new versions, usually at
the very moment
My bad, I should have found that article before asking here. I guess I got
used to search on the Trisquel pages before searching more broadly.
Thanks for pointing to it.
So the question somehow comes down to how critical processor cache use
efficiency is for a given user, all other things
See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/64-bit_computing#Pros_and_cons
After listing many significant advantages of 64-bit architectures over 32-bit
ones, it says:
The main disadvantage of 64-bit architectures is that, relative to 32-bit
architectures, the same data occupies more space in memory
Is the software Mozilla uses for this libre? Is there an options in the Sync
tool in Abrowser to use a self-hosted server instead of Mozilla's? If so,
then I guess this is OK.
Here is the source code (under the MPLv2, a free software license):

What is the resolution of your netbook?

Sorry if this might be slightly off-topic, but would there be any good reason
to run a 32-bit operating system on a 64-bit capable processor, except for
specific legacy reasons? And if so, what would these be?
I am asking because some recent posts reminded me that I had to use a 32-bit
As Jaret explained, /bin/sh used to be the original UNIX shell (the Bourne
Shell). On modern systems, it is a symbolic link to another shell, which is
only guaranteed to implement the features of the Bourne shell. On Trisquel
it is dash by default:
$ ls -l /bin/sh
lrwxrwxrwx 1 root root 4
All the output you show say "64-bit"... but they would not all say so if you
were running a 32-bit operating system on a 64-bit processor (that works, at
least for x86; the other way around does not): lshw, cat /proc/cpuinfo (and
'lscpu', that provides a far simpler output) inform about the

So it is. I never would have thought to look there. Would it be possible to
add a menu item in a more obvious place that opens the System Monitor to that

Hi,

It's in the "MATE System Monitor" under the "System" tab.

I ran the full-upgrade to Etiona from Flidas (keeping in mind this was a
fresh install of Flidas). So far, it seems to be working fine. A few bits of

Never mind, I found it in this thread, in this comment by MagicBanana:here
I just tried an install of 32-bit Etiona with the default Mate desktop, on
Bishop, my decade old Acer Aspire One. Both the live session and the
graphical failed, so I went for the test install, forgetting that this would
install Flidas. Which it did. If anyone can remind me how to swap out
