Western Digital 2.5" 5400RPM "Blue" SATA hard disk.
The 5400 RPM drive I am using is 2TB and is at least 10 times slower than my
SSD that died.
I am speaking only from my experience.
This depends (mainly) on the platter density of the disk drive. The oldest
5400-rpm drives with 20 GB per platter density is much slower than the latest
ones with 1 TB per platter density (both 2.5 inch).
Swap only used when you run out of memory.
How slow are the read speed of 5400 rpm hard drive? Mine is working fast.
That SSDs die extremely quickly is not true.
I recently learned that while SSDs are very fast as hard disks, they die
extremely quickly. I have hard disks that are going strong 20 years later,
but this SSD I had installed lasted for less than 5 years.
I recently replaced my SSD with a 5400 rpm drive and the slowdown is stark!
