Good afternoon mesdames et messieurs,
I currently experience some sound problems with Trisquel-Mini 7. I have a
sound system which works perfectly fine. I know that because everything works
like a charm when I connect this system to my laptop which is running
Trisquel-Mini 6.
Furthermore,
Are there any news yet about this talk? Any footage anywhere? I really would
like to see it.
Thanks a lot everyone. The hint from oysterboy did the trick for me. :-)
Hi guys,
Is anyone else having problems with abrowser 30 and Youtube? I can't use
Youtube any more since I updated my Trisquel 6.0 laptop.
Cheers,
Mzee
In Germany you can buy printed books and support the FSF at the same time by
using http://www.bookzilla.de/ but I'm not sure if they provide international
shipping.
@axgb: Does that mean abrowser will still be in the final repos for Trisquel
7.0?
@jbar: Well... how would renaming a .desktop file help to fix this problem?
Hi guys,
I recently installed Trisquel 7.0 alpha on my desktop machine. The first
impression is quite good but I'm facing some issues for Trisquel-mini:
- The wallpaper of the installation routine still greets me with a Trisquel
6.0 slogan. ;-)
- If I activate autlogin during the

What is the output of top? There is a bug in Trisquel mini, which leads to
some overheating. Restarting lxdm can help, though.
Hi guys,
I would like to start with CUDA programming on Trisquel. Do you know if this
is possible to do that without using any proprietary solutions? The Nvdia
CUDA toolkit doesn't seem to be a very open system.
Thank you!
Thanks for your comments. Apparantly, the sitution for free software CUDA
solutions is disastrous, which really is a pity. I will have to switch to
Ubuntu on one of my machines in order to use CUDA properly.
Yes, there is a truely trustworthy web search. It's called Yacy
(http://yacy.net/en/index.html) but unfortunately the search results are not
even reometly comparable with Google and other big search engines.
I know I'm late with this news but nevertheless, here it is:

Congratulations!
Yeah, 55% reached so far. That looks promising. I also love the artwork. :-)
Thank you, lembas! :-)
One short question: Do you offer the possibility to pay with Bitcoins?
GNU MediaGoblin is a free software media publishing system for the web. It's
a freedom-respecting replacement for sites like Flickr, YouTube, SoundCloud,
and Thingiverse. We've come pretty far, but we need you to join our goblin
force and help us take back the net!
I couldn't find an issue for that, so I created one, which can be found here:
https://trisquel.info/en/issues/11188
You are welcome. :-)
Nice game! I like the screenshots. :)
As long as we can make sure that ABrowser does not:
- Spy on its users
- Track any information
- Become unfree software in any way
I don't have any problems with ABrowser including advertisement.
Mozilla is a company and has to get its money from somewhere. That's how it

Oh... I thought there might be same implementation samples. Anyway: Good job!
Hey, that looks cool. Good job! Are there any screenshots to get an
impression?
Good job! On which Ubuntu version will the new release be based on?
Beaglebone Black is not free last time I checked.
According to the FSF it is partially:

I'm not planning to use the GPU and video decoding.
Have you seen this thread? [...]
Yes, but their best product seems to be the following:

available should be this one:

What about Right click on panel - Panel Settings - Appearance?
I really would love to buy and use a BeagleBone Black Board with Trisquel. I
know that there isn't any suppport for the ARM architecture right now. Thus,
I have three questions:
1.) Is ARM support planned for Trisquel any time in the future?
2.) If yes, is there a planned release date for
Well, you just recommended it to the general public. ;-)
However, thank you very much for that tip. Are there any plans for Trisquel
ARM support?
You probably want WebRTC. Here are some demos with the source code:
https://www.webrtc-experiment.com/
Hallo quantumgravity,
There are dozens of websites related to WebRTC but they are pretty much all
dealing with the same technology. [1]
AFAIK WebRTC is completely free.
I remember seeing a website recently with Call me buttons for Google,
Twitter, etc... but I can't find it anymore
Hi guys,
Yes, this is as silly as it sounds.
I want to install Dogecoins on Trisquel and I'm trying to follow the
instructions on reddit:
http://4x.reddit.com/r/dogecoin/comments/1tvmnd/dogecoin_on_linux_the_complete_beginners_guide/
sudo apt-get install libssl-dev libdb-dev libdb++-dev
This Novena Laptop is free because of its free Hardware. AFAIK this isn't the
case for the gluglug laptops.
I'm still not sure where the information Armworm provided comes from.
@Armworm: Where does this information come from?
@topic: I think this is a very good attempt and definitely a step in the
right direction.
I'm eagerly waiting for the crowdfunding phase, which is going to start
between February and March.
This is just great!
Is this laptop only available with a 12.1 display?
I think you forgot to put a link here: https://www.avaneya.com/
Yeah, that's really good news. It only took them 26 years to realize that the
old license wasn't the best choice. ;-)
@ssdclickofdeath: I don't thing so as I'm also running a 64 bit system
without any problems.
Thank you very much for this. As VirtualBox isn't working anymore with
Trisquel, this was badly needed.
The same for me after removing the nameserver lines. Thanks a lot! :-)
These lines are still present though:
search trisquel.info
domain trisquel.info
Is that a bad thing,too?
I have the same question as someone before me:
Sorry if this is a stupid question... To fix this problem, can I just remove
the 8.8.8.8 line from /etc/resolvconf/resolv.conf.d/tail? Or must I replace
it with something else?
It does work, but not out of the box; try this:
https://trisquel.info/en/wiki/installing-virtualbox
and you may have to repeat the same steps after updates sometimes.
These steps don't work for me unfortunately.
I think that's a good idea. I tried out qemu once, but I was never able to
Well, it doesn't work anyway. Thus it would be better to remove it.
Hi guys,
I'm currently thinking about becoming a Trisquel member. I saw that there is
a Spanish bank account, which I prefer to use instead of Paypal. I would like
to transfer the money monthly from a bank account in the EU (I currently live
in Austria). However, you stated that there might
Ok, that's good but I still prefer to transfer the money via banking
accounts. I think there shouldn't be a big problem to do that via SEPA
transactions, should it?
Unfortunately the problem still persists. Even the latest kernel update
didn't change anything.
Well, could I use my old virtual machines created with VirtualBox with QEMU?
If not, that's not an option either. :-(
That blacklist option was what I'm looking for as ABrowser keeps forgetting
that I entered the HTML5 trial. Unfortunately the blacklist option doesn't
seem to work directly and changing the url every time seems to be a bit
complicated.
This extension does the trick for me. Thank you.
Thanks for your comments so far. Unfortunately I didn't express myself very
well. What I want to do is the following: I would like to use gnash for every
website except for youtube, on which I would like to see html5 embedded
videos only.
@trinux: How can I do that?
Hello,
Is there an easy way to blacklist certain websites from using gnash?
Your help is highly appreciated. :)
Thank you very much, andrew. I managed to install the package now.
Unfortunately, VirtualBox still isn't working for me. uname -r shows
3.10.5-gnu now but sudo /etc/init.d/vboxdrv setup still gives me sudo:
/etc/init.d/vboxdrv: command not found. Any further hints?
Thanks a lot, Magic Banana.
Unfortunately I just get:

Which package(s) do I have to install?
Do you know of any statements concerning the encryption of e-mail metadata?
Unfortunately, it doesn't help a lot to encrypt all the contents of your
e-mails if all the secret services of this world still know who you are
talking to.
@dadix: libdrm-nouveau2 was the package I was missing. Thank you! You sir,
are rocking very much! :-)
@Sachin: You mentioned another command in the issue you linked to. Thus, I
tried sudo /etc/init.d/virtualbox start. But this only resulted in No
suitable module for running kernel found.
@GNUser: Thank you very much for your elaborations. However, I think I didn't
manage yet to use the
Thank you, dadix. In another thread you mentioned the Intel Open Source
drivers. Where did you get them from and how did you install them? Maybe I
just need these to fix my problem.
Hey guys,
I managed to install VirtualBox but unfortunately I'm not able to start any
virtual system so far. Whenever I try to start a system, which I moved to my
new machine, I get the following error message:
Kernel driver not installed (rc=-1908)

WebGL doesn't work with ABrowser on my machine. Whenever I go to

Actually yes but maybe there is somethin I have missed. Care to give me a
hint?
@lembas: Thanks a lot but that's exactly the link I posted in my original
post. Unfortunately that doesn't help...
@Sachin: You want me to downgrade to linux-3.2? Wouldn't that be a big step
coming from linux-3.8?
I already tried that but unfortunately it doesn't help either...
You might need to install some glx related package?
Which one? :-)
Thanks Sachin, I just updated the issue.
I'm not using Jxself's repo. What is special about this repo and where can I
get it from?
Good one but Parallella (http://www.parallella.org/) seems to be missing...
Great to see so many updates coming in but why did this even happen? I also
thought that there is some kind of automatic synchronization with the Ubuntu
repositories. What if this happens again in the future?
I would be very happy to get an official response to clarify this stuff. Is
there
I doubt that more money will directly lead to more updates, though I agree
that it is a good way to show your love.
If it's true that only two guys are running this whole distribution, there
needs to be another solution. Either:
1.) More core members
2.) A way to sync the Ubuntu repos with
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE SYNC THE TRISQUEL REPOS!!!
I second this!
You are totally right! I also started a thread about this some time ago. [1]
This really needs to be adressed! Is there anything we as normal users
could do?
[1]: https://trisquel.info/en/forum/trisquel-update-policy
I think it's time to start a discussion about the update policy of Trisquel.
Recently there have been several threads related to this issue:
- Vulnerability free web browser [1]
- Web RTC and abrowser 21? [2]
- Trisquel repos not updating lately from Ubuntu's? [3]
I think it's not a good idea
I agree with the OP that the current situation is very unfortunate. Is there
any page where I can get .deb files of the current versionb of
iceweasal-libre? Wouldn't it be a great idea just to include this package in
the repository if it's already available?

@aloniv: Thanks for the information. Probably this bug and the other bug I

@topic: I just added this laptop to h-node [1]. I will add more information

Hi lembas,
Thanks for your post. The script is executable.
I just entered ls as an example script but I don't even see any flashing
terminal boxes on my machine.
If I execute the script from the command line directly it just works like a
charm.
Unfortunately that didn't work either. :(
@MagicBanana: That's my point!
@lembas: Unfortunately, I don't know of any place where you can get the
source code for the World Community Grid from, but they state the following
on their website:
World Community Grid is making technology available only to public and
not-for-profit
Another strange error I noticed recently:
When the power adapter is not connected and my laptop is running with battery
power only, my mouse stops to work after some seconds. If I reconnect it, it
works again for some more seconds and then stops again. Has anyone else
experienced this?
Additionally, you may need to install java first:
sudo aptitude install openjdk-7-jre
should help.
I just tried to install BOINC on my system but it stopped due to unresolved
dependencies. Some research showed my that BOINC actually is not meant to be
installed in Trisquel. [1]
I would like to propose to whitelist this package as the possibility to run
proprietary apps from within this
Hum... let my put it this way by asking some quite polemic questions:
Couldn't a webbrowser be used to download non-free software? Should we
therefore blacklist all webbrowsers?
btw: Boinc is even listed by the free software directory:

@MagicFab: Thanks a lot for your hints. Now my systems runs at around 61 °C
after removing all unnecessary processes. That should be ok, shouldn't it?
@ssdclickofdeath: Thanks for the link. I will add the laptop once I'm sure
that everything works without any problems. Maybe it would even be
Hi guys,
I recently installed Trisquel-Mini on my Acer Aspire 7739 laptop and have to
say that it really works very well. So far I haven't had any issues except
for one:
My laptop seems to get really hot and the fan is constantly running at a very
high rate, which is quite annoying
You could give lightspark [1] a ttry but I highly doubt that it is able to
display BBC videos correctly.

Have you tried Jitsi? [1]
I can really recommend it because it knows how to handle text, voice and even
video. (encryption works as well)
