I now see I could've done a mistake in the first place, by posting what was
meant to be a naive and peaceful comment.
It's now evident to me that my initial wording wasn't perfectly chosen to
reflect the naive intent of my comment.
>You just said that it "should" be female, which implies
First of all, I didn't mean to hurt anybody's feelings with my simple and
humble suggestion. I'm sorry if I did hurt yours.
>I was "shooting down" a female supremacist trying to inject female supremacy
where it doesn't belong.
For the sake of clarity:
I'm a "white heterosexual middle-class
>What about Miss Heyjoe?
I'm may be missing something, but I don't get it..
My two cents:
I don't have a particular preference, but I think it should definitely be a
*female* name.
That would be a small but significant sign of not following the dominant
patriarchy in technology (and in society in general).
Happy hacking!
For what it's worth, I can only say this:
the human being behind Abdullah Ramazanoglu's words must be a wise one.
Thank you for those words.
If only more people were able to reason and talk like that..
Hello everybody,
some of the folks involved with Replicant will be at FOSDEM during next
weekend (2nd to 4th of February).
I'll be there too.
If anybody is in Brussels in the same days, please leave a comment here, we
can meet around and have some chatter and a couple of beers (..or
And here's a direct link to the actual public consultation:

Hi everyone,
this is just a heads-up to a post on Replicant's blog regarding a public
consultation about the importance and role of various kind of terminal
devices in respect to users' rights and internet access.
As the article suggests, this is an important occasion to speak in favour of
I think you'd better ask them directly..
..but my guess is as follows:
Given that:
-riseup.net is funded by members only (not by governments or corporations);
-it is always struggling to keep up the pace and pay the bills;
-every account they offer needs a tiny but significant amount of

I'm a long-time loving customer of them, and I've always been much satisfied,
so I definitely suggest it!
Thanks for pointing out.
Unfortunately, it seems the SDK packed in Trisquel 8 could be incomplete.
Here's an extract from Replicant's mailing list, where Wolfgang, the main
developer, states this:
It looks like the next release of Trisquel (8.0
Flidas) will be based on Ubuntu 16.04. Ubuntu
Do you think that the usb being a Sandisk brand rather than say a
ThinkPenguin usb could be the problem?
I really don't think so. It COULD be a faulty stick, regardless of its brand,
or it COULD be that the "bootable" part of the iso image on that drive is
somehow corrupted..
Anyway:
I
Did you protect grub usb-boot option with a password?
If that's the case, and if you're not able to correctly put the password in,
then there's only one chance, and it's to reflash libreboot and its grub
payload the hardware way..
If you didn't, then you should be able to boot from usb.
If
Not sure about that...
..but the trivial answer would be that either you ACTUALLY mistype your
password, OR you tricked yourself when writing down the password, and the one
you noted down isn't exactly the one you created..
Can you try to reinstall everything with a simpler password, just
Hello everyone,
here's the announcement:
http://blog.replicant.us/2017/04/there-wont-be-a-replicant-6-0-sdk-because-there-is-already-something-better/
Basically, the Replicant project won't be maintaining a libre version of the
Android SDK anymore.
The reason is that it will be included in
Hi,
I've personally come to this doubts myself, when I was beginning to develop
for Replicant.
Paul K. has written an interesting post on his blog, about the "free-ness" of
google's android SDK:
http://code.paulk.fr/article0008/what-s-up-with-the-android-sdk
I don't really think it
Hi!
I replied to your post on the Replicant forum, trying to explain things a
little better.
If you, or anyone else, still have doubts, please ask on the same post in the
Replicant forum. Asking on Trisquel.info you won't get any specific answer,
as this is not the right place.
Also,
I'm the OP on Replicant's forum.
I'm sorry for your disappointment, and I'm sorry for the confusion.
To state things more clearly:
There is NO support for WiFi using the internal Broadcom chip (AFAIK).
There IS support though, using an external dongle and ath9k_htc free
firmware.
The whole
Maybe a little away from "standard" usage but..
Inkscape is the greatest piece of software for graphics I've ever used.
Just in case you're wondering, no, it doesn't have the same role as GIMP, as
GIMP doesn't fully support SVG, while Inkscape does.
my two cents for VLC ;)
Encryption won't do much against spyware which is running ON your system.
As you yourself can do nothing useful with encrypted data, until you decrypt
them, data on your system can stay usefully encrypted only while at rest.
And if a piece of code running on your system is able (yes, it can
Hi everybody,
I'm running Eclipse 3.8 in Trisquel 7 and I'm trying to update it, hoping
that an update will solve my issues with Replicant SDK..
I've tried apt-get update / upgrade multiple times during last month, using
both the main repository and the french mirror. No success.
So, I'm
