I had this problem a few years ago.
I took the hard drive out of the laptop I installed it on and put it in a
laptop that reports PAE as a CPU feature. The first laptop actually supports
PAE, but it doesn't correctly announce it as a feature. If your laptop really
doesn't support PAE, then
I just tested some Trisquel discs on the same laptop.
The version that didn't boot was 6.0. I was able to boot up 6.0.1 just fine.
Trisquel 7 will only boot if you pass a "forcepae" boot parameter.
To do that, press F6 after choosing your language on the CD boot screen.
Press escape, and
Or maybe there's actually myths that need to be debunked... :)
I'd guess tonlee is referring to the drivers in the kernel that operate a USB
3.0 flash drive, for example.
The official distro, Raspbian, comes with many proprietary programs by
default. Mathmatica, Wolfram Alpha, Java (Not the free version, IcedTea,) and
Minecraft. There may be more that I'm not aware of.
That doesn't even count the proprietary firmware on it that lembas mentioned.
Yes. It's called Make Seamless.
It's in Filters --> Map --> Make Seamless.
If you install Debian without entering a root password during the
installation, sudo will be enabled. The wireless may have been glitchy
because Debian doesn't come with proprietary drivers out of the box and the
free ones don't work too well, assuming it worked fine in Ubuntu with the
You could check how often your computer checks for updates. Open up System
Settings, then Software & Updates. Go to the Updates tab and see what
"Automatically check for updates:" is set to.
I don't think creating a PowerPC build is a simple task.
Debian already has a PowerPC build. Perhaps you could try that.
I think it's funny too, but it takes the messages out of context.
It may reflect poorly on the user's reputation for comments like the example
I gave, to the uninitiated reader.
I agree. I'd rather have some more advanced forum software here like PHPBB or
Simple Machines, anyway.
After deleting a certain user's posts it now looks like Magic Banana is
giving a curt reply to Chris that has nothing to do with Chris' post. (Image

I'm sure there's many other examples.
This may be a consequence of the forum software used, but it would be nice to
have the
Jadedctrl already shared it on /r/opensourcegames.

I tried this and it worked!
I'm typing this on the reinstalled Abrowser right now.
Abrowser 39 crashes on my 32-bit Trisquel 6 machine as well.
Abrowser 39.0 on Trisquel 7 doesn't work at all. I tried launching it three
times and every time it shows the window that checks for add-on compatibility
then it crashes.

I haven't tried this tutorial, but it may be useful.

You'll just be seen as a troll if you join a forum composed of mainly Windows
users, and advise others not to use Windows on topics like the one you linked
to.
Adobe Flash is available for Android. I found plenty of results by searching
flash for android in DuckDuckGo.
You did say they typically don't have it, but I wanted to make that clear.
I get a Sorry: This Video Does Not Exist message on every video with JS
disabled. I just use youtube-dl to download the video.

What version of XFCE is that, and is that a custom icon theme? I'm drooling.
;-)
I don't think so.
I cURL'd the Libreplanet 2015 streams.
A stream can also be dumped in VLC: Media -- Convert/Save...
Go to the network tab of the new dialog box, paste the URL in, then customize
the encoding settings.
That's great. I was waiting for when they would publish the videos so I won't
have to watch the unedited streamdumps.
Are these
(http://ubuntu-tutorial.com/ultra-flat-icon-theme-on-my-ubuntu-14-10-utopic-unicorn/)
the icons used? Unfortunately, they restrict commercial use. (They are
licensed under the CC BY-NC-SA 4.0.)
The window border doesn't change even though I have M.E.1 selected as the
window theme. (I installed it as Cleiton suggested.)
Here's a screenshot (Indexed to 256 colors to save space.)
What's the purpose of posting this link? His window/GTK theme is properly
licensed under the GNU GPL.
I love how clean it looks.
I'll try installing it tomorrow.
Never mind, I'll do it today. :-)
I installed it in my ~/.themes/ directory, and was able to change the GTK
theme, but not the window or icon themes. Is this theme supposed to include
icons, or do I have to install them elsewhere to get the look in the preview
image?
This probably won't work out too well for old websites that aren't maintained
anymore.
I don't know why this happened, but restarting my computer solved it.
I noticed that a daemon called colord seems to be locked up and is taking up
most of my CPU load. This happened after I woke my computer up from sleep
mode. If it's relevant, I have my computer set to lock the screen awhen the
computer is locked.
Yes. Both of those versions of the site work without JS.
Does anyone have any idea on how to load disqus comments without JavaScript?
I made a stylesheet for YouTube that automatically expands the description
box under the video for you so you don't have to do it manually every time by
editing the page.
To use it, first install Stylish.

Could you give an example of ways you have used the addon?
I don't know JavaScript, but wouldn't a Greasemonkey script be more suited

You actually spelled everything correctly, and unusually have capitalized the
first letter of your sentence. :-)
For some reason I assumed the SDL2 source included that.
I installed those libraries and successfully compiled Starfighter.
After running it I get odd warnings in the terminal, such as:
nvfx_screen_get_param:95 - Warning: unknown PIPE_CAP 30
A window titled Starfighter appears, but it is
It's a Nvidia card. I'll try installing the program on my Mac Mini with Intel
GMA and Trisquel 7.
UPDATE: I installed it on my desktop computer and it works fine. I was
surprised that I didn't hear any sound until after I started a new game and
fired the first shot.
Is this normal?
Who cares when I have an awesome-looking desktop!
Unfortunately, the posts being allowed to stay with no counter-argument
(which is, of course, useless to do) could make it look like the viewpoint is
generally accepted around here, which could put off new community members
quite quickly.
It looks like this software may be Trisquel 7 only. A search in Synaptic for
libsdl2 returns no results.
~/code/SDL2-2.0.3$ pkg-config --cflags sdl2 SDL2_image SDL2_mixer
Package SDL2_image was not found in the pkg-config search path.
Perhaps you should add the directory containing `SDL2_image.pc'
to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable

I compiled SDL2 according to the instructions (./configure; make; make
install, the last one as root) and it apparently compiled correctly, but the
compilation of Starfighter returns the same error.
I tried these two commands and I got the same error after running make:
PKG_CONFIG_PATH=/usr/local/lib/pkgconfig
export PKG_CONFIG_PATH
I am trying to compile the game on Trisquel 6, but it fails because I don't
seem to have the right libraries installed.

Welcome to Trisquel!
You may have accidentally enabled the screen reader.
To disable it, open up the system settings, open the Universal Access
category, and flip the screen reader on/off switch to off.
Okay, how do I set Mousepad as my default text editor, so files open in it by
default instead of gedit?
That's implied around here. :-)
Thanks for the help. I feel dumb when there's an easily searchable wiki page
that explains what I want to do. :-)
The Basic HTML Gmail is still available.
There is a link on the bottom of the home page to https://github.com/imgbi ,
and this link, https://github.com/imgbi/img.bi can be reached from the
previous one. The source code is apparently licensed under the GNU GPLv3.
The addons are written in Javascript, so they should work fine.
I believe there is a plan to make Icecat private mode go through Tor
though.
It already does. :-)
Yes, this happens to me too, including onpon4's mention of the cursor
disappearing.
I just tried out Mousepad. I notice it has many similar features to gedit,
but is a fork of Leafpad.
Additionally, I'd recommend scaling the video down if you recorded it in
1080p. This can be done easily in avconv/ffmpeg (read the manpage.)
The commercial license could be for producers that want the attribution
requirement waived. I am just guessing.
Can you please start https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gitbull ?
I doubt Gitbull is yet notable.
I think I found a hosting service I'd like to use. :-)
On a side note, I downloaded all your minetest mods from Gitorious to save
them, but it turned out that you were aware of the shutdown. Better safe than
sorry, I guess?
Now I will try to make the script put each project's repositories in
separate directories.
Accomplished!
I got it working now, and pushed the fixed version to the git repo.
Now I will try to make the script put each project's repositories in separate
directories.
I've never heard of that before, so I don't know if it exists or not.
Does anyone know how to make this script work? I still don't know what main
$* means. I know that main runs the function main, what does the $*
mean? Is it a wild card variable?
???
Are you using Trisquel 6 or Trisquel 7?
There is a company called Elphel that makes cameras that record in the Theora
format, but they are very expensive. As far as I am aware, no major camera
manufacturers make cameras that support that format.
I am trying to save some Gitorious repositories before Gitorious shuts down.
I am working on modifying a script that batch-downloads GitHub repositories
to work with Gitorious instead.
https://gist.github.com/ssdclickofdeath/34855c86910b63c50413
(Please don't tell me GitHub is proprietary.
As far as I know, Gitorious users have to opt-in (and become a paying
customer) to have their code moved to GitLab. In case you misunderstood, I'm
not going to put a mirror of the repositories on GitHub, I am just hosting
the script there.
Does using that theme make your computer as stable as Windows 3.1?
Yes, unlike Android, most programs running on an unmodified Trisquel system
are not sandboxed. I think Abrowser is sandboxed using apparmor.
I hope they actually record the conference this time, so we have something to
watch besides lousy 10 FPS streamdumps.
There is a project called Terms of Service; Didn't Read that rates website
Terms of Service on a scale of Class A to Class E. There is a TOS;DR

I am having a hard time understanding your question. Are you asking if there
is a database of how trustworthy programs are?
Because this sounds like a troll post, I will respond with a troll reply.

My laptop is a Pentium M, which is a mobile version of a Pentium 4. I also
have a disused desktop computer with a P4 inside it.
My laptop is a Dell Inspiron 8600 with 1 GB of RAM, a 1.5 GHz CPU, and a 40

Thanks. I'm wanting to build a desktop computer. It was out of stock at
Newegg, but I found it on Ebay. I'm having second thoughts about it though. I
don't want have a computer that requires me to wear a HAZMAT suit while using
it. :P
Tomlukeywood, what motherboard are you using that supports 8 cores and
(presumably) works with free software?
Here is the desktop of my woefully underpowered laptop.
Suspicious activity like that would certainly be grounds for a ban, wouldn't
it?
It should be easy to detect.
If it was, why is it so obvious that you are being watched? :P
Here's my desktop computer's screen. Just the default GNOME 3 environment
that comes with Trisquel 7.
Yes, I knew it was a joke, that's what the Colon-capital P indicated.
I'm not experienced with making Debian packages, but perhaps I could do it in
the future.
I've heard about the MikeeUSA troll before, but never connected him to
chaosesqueteam/vpro. Thanks for the info.
I find a typo right after I start the thread. Command-line only has two
ms, not three.
Typical.
I have been casually writing a small program for nearly a year, a GUI-based
QR code generator imaginatively titled Qrgui. It is only a bash script less
than 120 lines long that passes arguments to qrencode, a commmand-line based
QR code generator, but it is a lot easier to use than qrencode
I haven't used riseup, so I don't know. Openmailbox is a pretty nice service,
though.
@Dave_Hunt I don't see a script. Did you forget to attach it?
It's python, so it doesn't need to be compiled. :)
What's the password for the FTP server? I can't log on.
What are you talking about? Your post didn't get downvoted.
You could try youtube-dl to download videos.
(http://rg3.github.com/youtube-dl/) It's in the repos.
Unfortunately, the index will become outdated even as it is being collected,
so it could never be complete.
True...
I right-click--Open link in new tab on the upvote/downvote button, then
