The driver is free, the firmware is not, and you still need that one loaded

something? Has AMD freed their ultra-proprietary junk? If I am correct, the

The problem is we do not know anything about the proprietary firmware. It
could have been as well programmed to perform malicious tasks. Or, which is
give or less the same, it could have been written terribly, full of (sec)
bugs, and therefore exploitable. Trouble is also most firmware gets very
rarely, if ever, updated.
So you are stuck with buggy, insecure firmware that you (or anyone in your

There is another issue, which is that these videos are trailers. Trailers are

First try:
alsamixer

then try:
pavucontrol

The first is a terminal command the second is a GUI program so try and see if
you can 'unmute' it from there.

I see. Although, if you have a malicious user with physical access to a
machine..it's always bad, that's why I let only my dog use my computer, and

But you don't make changes to packages or the repos, without sudo. How can
just updating the repo be of any harm? The users can not upgrade or install
without sudo, so just updating the repo would be ok? Or am I missing
something?

Absolutely.. Love Xfce. It has been my exclusive choice for loong time, then
at some point I found myself mixing it with LXDE that I just finally switched
to it and I can say, on old hardware, the difference is visible and
significant, really.
