Absolutely not true. It will purge only the intended pulseaudio, resulting in
a functioning OS with working audio.

Well, I don't know if this will help your case, but I remember an issue
related to pulseaudio on the old Debian Stable (Jessie), in that the audio
would randomly mute and whatever I tried it would not come back..
The pseudo-fix was to install pavucontrol and then unmute it within its GUI.
After installing Trisquel Mini all my sound related things (speakers, power
management beeps and microphone) don't work. Apparently, on alsamixer
everything it's ok. My sound card it's an Intel HDA AD1981.
