For those who wish to compile it and encounter issues, this solved it for me
->
export JAVA_HOME=/usr/lib/jvm/java-1.8.0-openjdk-amd64; export
PATH=${JAVA_HOME}/bin:$PATH
Thanks so much!

I remember a long time ago it was easy to find songs with gnutella clients
(like LimeWire, which was a well-known one at the time).
Perhaps you might be thinking of something overly specific. At its core,
Popcorn Time is nothing more than peer-to-peer file sharing (specifically
BitTorrent,
Is there a popcorn time like software but for audio(music, audiobooks,
podcasts)?
Thing is, Popcorn Time updates itself automatically, so you don't need to use
a PPA.
As far as I know, yes, they are.
I send you a private message..
this is where you download it - no need to add third party ppas -
https://popcorntime.io
sudo apt-get install fonts-liberation
cheers!
and the source code is here:

Amazing! Installing the fonts did it for me! Huge thanks.
Do you find it too concerning to use the WebUp8 PPA? They seem pretty
trustworthy, no?
thanks
Otherwise, you can use directly peerflix:

Neither are official; the official version was shut down. Both are forks. But
indeed, the fork at popcorntime.io seems to be the best one.
i used http://popcorntime.se/
which btw now looks like its been shut down
do you know how to download the files at:
https://git.popcorntime.io/stash/projects/PT#
do you have to use a git command?
Inspect the element at the top-right which says stash on it. Just above it,
you'll see an element with the class aui-sidebar-body. Select that, and
then under rules (to the right), disable overflow-y: auto. That will make a
menu show up. If you're inside a repository, one button in this menu
it worked great for me but i removed it as there are no instructions for how
to compile it from source on gnu/linux
and i dont want to run a program like this without knowing exectly whats its
doing espechially as its not in the trisquel repo's
also when i tried to compile it it claimed it
why, that's odd David!
try removing these folders:
/home/.pki
/home/config/Popcorn-Time
and then restart it..
Also, there has been a problem with covers missing as of the beginning of
this month..
this is the temporary fix, untill they patch it with the next release:
Apparently the fork at popcorntime.se used to be called Time4Popcorn is
unsafe because it uses an iframe with code that gets downloaded every time
you run it (which they can always change).
popcorntime.io is the official version.
What are you talking about? README.md clearly says that you can just use
make_popcorn.sh.
Or did you ignore my post where I recommended the fork at popcorntime.io,
when you were trying to use the unrelated fork at popcorntime.se?
I'm bumping this for tomlukeywood and adding my own two cents:
I believe that sharing is hardwired into us and a basic part of human nature
that cannot be legislated away. I was not online during the Napster years,
but when WinMix was taken down, Limewire appeared. When Limewire was taken
tribler is sooo slow
I don't like the sound of tor-like network.
Why not just design a bittorrent client that uses tor in a secure way?
what about
http://www.tribler.org/?
Thank you. Very informative. Much better than the initial spam.
just want to make it clear that it wasn't me that downvoted your post - I
hate this new stupid voting system and will never get tired repeating how
dumb and useless it is!
I use words to express myself - in this case I'll say: I don't like you!
lI'm not a lawyer, but your understanding of the technology, risks, and the
law is probably misguided. BitTorrent is not illegal (anywhere that I'm aware
of anyway) and criminal copyright infringement is aimed at operators of
commercial businesses profiting off of copyright infringement (in
very true chris. But shit happens and one can never know..
Prevention can be taken by setting up a good blocklist. That won't keep out
all the copyright jerks but even if it keeps out 30% of them, it's still
better then no blocklist at all.

Sure- bad stuff does happen. However the worst case scenario here isn't the
end of the world. You would really have to mess up to have a civil matter
like this be a serious impediment to your life.
If you like I can tell you how to accomplish that though you might still fail
to ruin your
chris- I use bittorrent clients rather often now and pop corn even more. I am
aware of the matter that it would not be the end of the world if you went
through what you called the worst scenario and agree with you on this. It
was actually quantumgravity who raised some doubts about p2p
You are right Chris, I talked about a criminal record when I was actually
worried about a civil lawsuit.
I can't afford getting sued and pay like 1000 or 8000 dollars at the moment
and though the risks might not be that big, i still would like to avoid it.
I think it's more secure to go with
Popcorn Time depends on the fonts-liberation package.
I don't know... it seems tempting, but i stayed away from bittorrent until
now. Don't want to have a criminal record honestly...
and i don't know very much about vpn, so i'm sceptical.
There's no way to use this application safely with tor i guess?
Popcorn Time uses a built-in VPN- combined with using purely Free Software,
it'll be rather difficult to track who used it.
Even if they were able to, so many people use these services it would hardly
be worth the money for companies to sue.
Can anyone explain to me how vpn is any different from a normal https proxy
(when it comes to privacy)?
I know the basic principle you connect to a private network in an
encrypted way; then to the destination server, i guess.
But the vpn provider can log my ip, right?

Using Bit-torrent is
popcorn is free software and it is fracking awesome!!
the only downside is that you are limited to the series and movies which are
listed in popcorn. It would be nice if you could just add a magnet link and
stream whatever you want..I for myself really enjoy older movies (seventies
mainly)
Popcorn-Time reached version 0.3.6.0 the christmas tree is up.
Remarkable new feature is a builtin VPN very easy to set so you can enjoy the
streams without pigs knocking on your door even if you live in the usa* !!
give it a try! Amazing piece of software.

A new version? :)
The last one I tried didn't work (The website was down), so I might try this
one.
that's because it needs some dependencies installed in order to work. I am
not quite sure what dependencies are those nor did I research it - I just
know that if you install xbmc (kodi now) that takes care of all the
dependencies..
cheers
