So you have the message with all of the headers. Good.
I routinely report spam messages to SpamCop (www.spamcop.net).
Does SpamCop work out? Well, somewhat. I have learnt that

At the same time, Linux Mint has been hit by a malware infection and fake ISO
downloads. I'm not saying they are connected. Just curious.

Mission accomplished. Mint's reputation is now gone or at least seriously
tarnished.
Mint got hacked because it was low-hanging fruit for nefarious types. They
did not make it easy to verify GPG signatures or encourage people to, and the
key wasn't in the web of trust. They did not update WordPress or their server
software. They also create a mess of free and nonfree

full-sized. The same happens on IceCat and Tor Browser Bundle, even on my
Android phone. Could be my ISP (which is AIS Thailand).

Trisquel thumbnails are https for me, including on Midori, which does not
have https-everywhere installed. So you most likely have a problem with your
web browser.
That's now been remedied. Linuxmint.com is verified by Comodo.
There are audio captchas around, but I would advise not using captchas except
as a last resort. Disallowing new users from posting links or such are decent
spam prevention mesures already.

I found it odd in light of these events just how much the Mint Team where

I merely assumed it was Ubuntu with a different desktop engine and a
different package manager layout.
Looks like there's a spammer in our midst. You should've banned everybody who

Trust/progressive permission systems are something the modern forums I

It was easy to use though. I think people liked it because it distributed

though. The blame must be attributed to the top: the lead developers put
their users at risk, so they could obtain 'usability'. It was just a
I'm still in favor of some kind of trust earning system for new users before
they can freely post. Like making their posts approval-only until a certain
number of posts has been approved and a certain amount of time has passed.
Thanks! I watched in horror all happen. I thought the Kim-Illians had
launched a cyber attack on free software.
Good luck guys !
That wouldn't be all that effective. with 10 posts plus one new topic, it
would only take 10 new accounts to flood the forum with 110 spam posts, some
of them within existing topics and some of them as new topics. That's why I
think making them approval-only at first would be best. There

Or limit them to making 1 new forum topic a week and 10 posts a day, also
introducing a captcha feature for new users. Having a proper 'report as spam'
button would help. That would make it easy for new users to ask questions and
get help.
Hi
Tonight we had an spam attack that filled our forums with thousands of topics
in korean. As result of the cleaning, some legitimate post might be
unpublished. If that happens, please tell me in this thread and I will

Indeed. Perhaps due to all the bots they have doing their business for them.
The spammersbegone-tool (aka downvoting/upvoting) was served to Trisquel
forum in order to its users use it to combat spam. Any other sort of use
violates the trust on this offer.

Only way I know is down-voting. But it feels like the same tool is used for

Ok so maybe not everywhere. However, it does seem like spammers have taken a
liking to the forums. Is there a way to report these guys to remove the
spammy topics. I do not see an obvious way to do that.
If there is not a current way to do so, could we implement one before it gets

In my book (if it can handle it), then it's not a bad thing.
It's simpler.

I recommend using Kontalk [1] instead.
It's also available on F-Droid [2].
The only problem is that it asks for your cellphone number when setting
it up for the first time. As far as I know, the number is used to check
whether the cellphone using Kontalk is the same one which receives the
code.
